Giles, Solanki and Clarke? That really does take the biscuit. Why on earth do we keep recalling these players who clearly aren't good enough at ODI level? Well at least Matt Prior and Mal Loye have been called up.

I can take hope from the fact that this squad is only provisional at the moment.

India has also announced their 30 man probable list:
Rahul Dravid (capt), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Sreesanth, Ajit Agarkar, Suresh Raina, Ramesh Powar, Anil Kumble, Rudra Pratap Singh, Dinesh Mongia, VRV Singh, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Sourav Ganguly, Parthiv Patel, Zaheer Khan, VVS Laxman, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, S. Badrinath, Ishant Sharma, Rajesh Pawar, Joginder Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara.

Lots of Surprisese!!! S Badrinath, Ishant Sharma, Rajesh Pawar, Joginder Sharma Cheteshwar Pujara...never heard of them!! I know Badri and Ishant are quicks. Robin Uthappa o.O played a good innings vs England for an 80-odd, then failed. Parthiv Patel, DINESH MONGIA NO!!!!
Vrv Singh, terrible selection :mad

Its just the 30 probables man... Not the final 14!

The final 14 is going to be closer to the best one that we can send for the World Cup! Sehwag will be there for the final 14, so will Irfan! Ganguly, if he scores well in the upcoming ODI series will be the first one in the flight to the Carribean!

Solanki done alrite at odi cricket didnt he ? i didnt see much of him but didnt he used to open the batting with marcus trescothic and do quite good and he does alrite for his county

we just gotta hope that Mal Loye gets picked

Kent opening bowler who has played a few "internationals" for Denmark. He can reach 88mph at his extreme best (mostly 80mph) and is quick through the air (from seeing him live).

I think England have found their no.8. Vicram Solanki! :D

Code:
8th position           2    2   1    66  53*  13    -   66.00   0   1   0

Mal Loye seems ok. My policy is, if you can score a triple century at first class level, you deserve at least one international match.

Code:
Batting and fielding averages
class mat inns no runs hs ave sr 100 50
First-class   214   340   30   12890   322*   41.58        38   52
List A         262   256   31    7994    127     35.52        10   53
Twenty20    23    23     1      625    100     28.40  144  1     3

with solanki, i think it depends on his mood because he can either do very well or do bad, but even when he does well, he doesnt get chosen much, the same with o a shah the selecters better pick mal loye for the world cup, hes a class player they need to look at his averages in all forms of the game, there all healthy scores

Solanki wasn't all that bad but the selectors kept stuffing him around. They should have just left him at opener instead of making him into a lower order batsmen/super sub player.

I know man.
But still even giving men like Mongia and Vrv who have failed consistently a chance in the top 30 is just not good.

Thats what i keep saying!
Before strauss, he opened, and he opened well! Now he bats at what, 7?

As Matt said, Solanki is not good enough at international level, he's not even a top class county player for Worcestershire. Has only a half decent record for them and that was in the 2nd division in both competitions.

Ganguly shd be there atleast for the experience he has! I prefer this final 14 though, ;)

1) Sachin Tendulkar
2) Sourav Ganguly
3) V.Sehwag
4) R.Dravid
5) Yuvraj Singh
6) D.Karthik
7) MS Dhoni
8) Harbhajan Singh
9) Ajit Agarkar
10) Munaf Patel
11) Sreesanth

12) Irfan Pathan
13) R.Powar
14) Zaheer Khan

Its going to be close for selectors to decide.. Gambhir and Kaif are also favourable for selection!

If irfan does not play in the team in world cup and does not get back in form
i do not see india doing well in the world cup he is important for india.wish he gets back his form then we can play 2 spinners and have batting depth

My team would be
1-Virender shewag {Low and slow pitches his great strength has to give a good start}
2-sachin tendulkar{bat through 50 overs}
3-Yuvraj singh{play his natural game with out any pressure}
4-sourav ganguly{great player of spin maintain run rate through middle overs}
5-rahul dravid{Captain well and stabilize the middle order}
6-ms dhoni{blast at last}
7-irfan pathan{same here}{also open the bowling and try for some swing}
8-anil kumble{bounce them out}
9-harbhajan singh{spin them out}
10-ajit agarkar{Death bowler}or s sreesanth {swing the new ball }
11-Munaf patel{maintain good line and length}{Death bowler}

12-zaheer khan
13-Gautam Gambhir
14-Suresh raina

I have a feeling everything will fall in to its place and as we stopped the west indies from 3 consecutive world cups we shall stop the australians. :happy
