Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan Press Conference before the World Series

Editor: Well here we go again, Michael and Shane, the World Series is apon us, anything you have done differently in preperation then you did for the World Championships?

72864257.jpg
I wouldnt say alot of different preperations towards this series. We are happy that we have to only play another 4 teams this time, instead of the others we did in the World Championships, but still this will be a difficult campaign

Editor: Michael, who do you rekon will be your toughest opponent during the compettion?

72941416.jpg
Well every match we play will be a tough contest, there isnt any easy wins when playing cricket, doesnt matter who you are facing. Cricket is a funny game, and things happen un expectidly. But answering your question, we all saw how good New Zealand were during the World Championships, so they would easily be the toughest compettion we have. Australia are always a tough challenege and same with West Indies and South Africa. So we will need to play our best cricket to get over the line.

Editor: Shane, do you agree with what Michael is saying. New Zealand will be the toughest challenge?

72864257.jpg
Of course, like Vaughan said, :everyone will be a challenge for us, every game is a challenege dont matter who you play, wether it be Australia the number one team in the world, or a team like Namibia who are a lower placed cricket side.

Editor: Well thankyou again for speaking with us, good luck in the World Series starting on the 1st of Janurary.

I wud have preferred Colly in place of Solanki! Hope England can do well in this series. Kiwis and Windies are my favourites though ;)

West Indies Batting Innings

The West Indies started the Innings off well. Even though great bowling from Harmison and Anderson, the Indies worked out England well. W. Hinds, and C. Gayle were in 1st for Indies. Both men played well, scoring runs when needed. But it was Hinds that went 1st, playing a shot to mid wicket, thought he would snatch a run, but getting run out by M. Vaughan.

W. Hinds hits for a single, but miss judges and was run out.
West Indies had a partnership broken, and Hinds went on 51.
Brian Lara came in next, and smashed on the runs aswell, didnt take him very long before he was in the 30's. Lara was looking for his half century, playing some great shots, but missed out again, with great bowling from James Anderson who picked off Lara and was caught by Ashley Giles.

B. Lara hits hard, but Giles catches and Anderson takes his 1st victim

England Batting Innings

The Barmy Army welcomed England to the field, when it was there time to bat. The Barmy Army took the trip to Australia in thousands, and flocked the grounds early to get their seats. Andrew Strauss and Marcus Trescothick took the crease first up.
Although i didnt take long before Trescothick went back to the pavillion, being caught by Bravo with wonderful bowling from Collymore.

Trescothick2.jpg

Marcus Trescothick wasnt in the match for long, just 3 minutes into play, he was cuaght by Bravo and bowled by Collymore.

Whilst Trescothick went, Captain Vaughan came in, he and Strauss posted a good score, but it wasnt long before Vaughan went aswell. Strauss was sitting on 44, before smashing a massive 6 out of the ground to reach his half century, and the Barmy Army went nuts.
A.Strauss.jpg

Andrew Strauss smashing another 4, on his way to his half century

Kevin Pietersen was next in, but even he couldnt post a big enough score, dismissing after 10, and now no name Solanki came in a gave Strauss assistance. Solanki and Strauss put on a 78 partnership, with Solanki making 41 himself before being departed. Strauss was still on his way, and needed 1 run before making his century. And ex-Captain Andrew Flintoff helped Strauss on his way.

A. Strauss: not out - 110
M. Trescothick: c. Bravo - b. Collymore - 4
M. Vaughan: c. Dillion - b. Bradshaw - 21
K. Pietersen: c. Bradhsaw - b. Collymore - 10
