Worst sport, vote on opinion

yeh but fanirama, they wear 5 inch pads to stop themselves getting hurt! I'll agree they are big and tough, but our eqivilant of rugby is much harder, they say each tackle is the equivilant of a minor car crash, try that for 80 minutes.

And American football takes too long to watch, you watch it for 20 minutes but theres only 5 mins on the clock!!

AFL (both watch and play)

Im tipping you like that bum sniffing sport called Rugby League. Rugby League fans are usually jealous of AR because RL can't pull decent crowds! if u lived in Melbourne, South Australia, Western Australia or Tasmania, you probably wouldn't know what RL is...(im only assuming you are a RL fan because usually RL fans hate AR ;) )

To one of the earlier post -
How is American football a mans sport? they are padded up little girls!

American Football = Worst sport, followed by Baseball!

American football is probably the most specialised team sport in the world. Each player has a unique role to play and the method in which they combine is somewhat fascinating. As for the armour, think about it. The tackling is a little different to rugby. You have a 150 kg monster charging at you, rather than trying to grab you. He is trying to torpedo you down rather than wrestle you down.
Play, however is low on action per minute and you need an understanding of the strategy involved to keep interested. I don't know why anyone who likes cricket can't appreciate that.

Aussie rules is practically at the opposite end of the spectrum. Nowdays, the only true specialist position is full back. In general, though, each player needs to be able to run, leap, kick, hand pass, tackle and catch the ball to play effectively for two hours. Forwards are not simply finishers and Defenders not simply negators, they are often swapped to other parts of the ground: a tall defender moved forward for his height and reach, or maybe a small forward will get a run in the midfield or be asked to tie down an opposition forward.

Rugby League is way inferior to Union to watch, the free flow and desperation of Union is far more exciting. I don't know about playing rugby though, being hugged and groped by so many large men isn't my style. ;)

Or worse: remember John Hopoate?

I would say motorsports (F1,Moto GP) etc :(...can't play them ;) but hate to watch these..

I think the thing about American football is, as has been said, the way they wear so much padding you can barely see the player. Rugby players seem to cope find without the excessive padding.
Just to add to the ODI vs Test debate, I'm not a big fan of one day cricket. Even with games like today I'd rather watch a test match from start to finish!
One of my guilty pleasures after exams in previous years has been vegetating in front of a test match and wallowing in the game. There is nothing better. Something I am sadly to be denied from doing ever again (or until I can afford Sky) by the ECB and BSkyB after this summer.

To be honest test cricket is one of the most boring things to watch. I dont think I have seen any test game that does not involve England or Australia for more than 1 hour. One day cricket is better, but twenty20 is the real deal!!

But in terms of play, I think test cricket gives you the true indication of your strengths and weaknesses. Which is why you dont have too many flukes in test cricket.

Personally, I have never played even a 50 over cricket match. We did play 25 over a side games during school.

The Sport I really like is footie (Soccer as some people like calling it). It is the most entertaining sport on this planet. Nothing, and I mean nothing can beat it. I am a Cagliari, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Spain fan, and try not to miss a single game of theirs.

I also like Tennis, Motorsports, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Rugby Union, Pool, Table Tennis, Swimming, and Scuba Diving. I was also a big fan of the WWE when I was a kid, and I still watch some of the shows in case they are on TV when I am channel surfing. I also follow a lot of Track and Field events.

I do not like Baseball, American Football, Aussie Rules Football, and Golf.
When have you ever watched afl??

Ok. I agree that 20mins wall clock time equals 5 mins playtime. But that's more for the ads on TV etc. if you sit in the stadium you can see the referee getting instructions from the TV people upstairs in the booth re. when to restart game. LOL. But hey, this is America. !!! This is how we do it here. !!!

However, the 5inch pads etc don't mean they're not tough. Try it. Wear 5inch pads and stand before them and I'll see you in the hospital or rubber factory. LOL. More mass means more momentum, so its tough. Its a real mans sport. Very contact oriented sport. I agree with you that Rugby is harder due to not much protection. However, I found Rubgy very boring and tough to follow. Its perhaps just for those who manage to get into it.

And, other sports that are boring to watch ( worst sport ) --
1. Wrestling
2. body building

Fortunately most American sports are fast paced and short. So its easy to get into it and follow.

Great post!Rep points :)

Just a matter of opinion but I hate almost anything to do with football (soccer). It can get interesting sometimes and I guess you need to be a real fan, but to watch 90 minutes of action where there may be a goal seems kind of pointless. That said, of late there has been more goal-scoring. In that case it's interesting.

Almost any sport can get interesting if you follow it. Not liking a sport because you don't understand it isn't a really good reason. If you understand it and still find it stupid, fair enough. Most of the people here on the Rugby vs. NFL debate are using that argument. Aussies, I've heard, are bred on a diet of Rugby (and all its versions) whereas for North Americans Baseball, Basketball, American Football and Ice Hockey are mandatory!

Good soccer should involve at least 3 goals.

Most Australians know that Aussie rules is not Rugby. Rugby (both codes) is most popular in NSW and Queensland but is largely second to the AFL in general. Basketball, Soccer and Hockey (Iceless) are common sports people play but don't watch. Swimming is popular, most Aussies like to swim, I guess, so watching the championships is natural. Tennis is also very popular. Largely, though, it does come down to Cricket in summer, AFL in winter (after all, they're played on the same ovals).

I love soccer! If you mean that a true fan goes to alot of matches and plays for a club, then i'm certaintly not,but i love to play at school and watch(even if there is a 0-0 scoreline at the end of the game).

I could enjoy most sports live i reckon, but I reckon Curling might just push it a little, would be quite fun playing though.

As for watching, bowls has to be the most tedious sport ever.

Yeah,i can't believe they have test matches. In fairness it does require a fair bit of skill and being able to see what might happen in the future(the rest of the game).

i think snooker is boring to watch it's so predictable and only on rare occasions a fight breaks out and even then they don't throw any punches
