Best Ever ODI Bowler

Murli has done enough in his career.

Some how missed this thread when it was created but after looking at McGrath stats and looking for matches where he conceded over 70, it got me thinking on how the other quicks have gone in this regard.

Akram 502 wickets at 23.5 with SR 36.2 and 1 match where he conceded 70
Bond 134 wickets at 20.38 with SR 28.8 and 2 matches conceded 70, 1 match conceded 80
Younis 416 wickets at 23.84 with SR 30.5 and 6 matches conceded 70, 1 match conceded 80
McGrath 382 wickets at 22 with SR 34 and 2 matches conceded 70
Donald 272 wickets at 21.78 with SR 31.4 and 1 match conceded 70
Pollard 393 wickets at 24.5 with SR 39.9 and 1 match conceded 80
Ambrose 225 wickets at 24.12 with SR 41.5 and 0
Lee 324 wickets at 23 with SR 29.2 with 3 matches conceded 70 and 3 matches conceded 80
Vaas 400 wickets at 27.53 with SR 39.4 with 3 matches conceded 70 and 1 match conceded 80

I was surprised Bond had conceded over 70 (probably cause he keeps getting 5 fers against us). Akram was hands down amazing to only have gone for 70 once in his 20 years in ODI cricket. McGrath also did a great job in that respect and had a good SR. Donald is the best of the strike bowlers in regards to not going over 70 but he also played less games than some of the other strike bowlers.

For the best ODI quick its hard to go past Akram who had the whole package. After that Waqar and McGrath are close. Donald and Bond have great records but hard to compare them with the others due to the differences in matches.

Can't believe Akram's strike rate is so high. I mean, it's still excellent but for Akram, you'd think he'd average 2 solid wickets a game at least.

Agree I was shocked to see it that high, if it was lower I don't think anyone could argue with him being the best ODI quick ever.

Wasim Akram is the Best odi Bowler in the Wolrd and Nobody can match him

Once i met Wasim Akram in a shopping mall i asked him that why did not you performed best in your last days of career he said that he had a problem of dibetes and it was very difficult to play in high dibetes and he used to take injections before every match

Wasim Akram, without a doubt. Followed by Waqar Younis, Glenn McGrath and Murali.

To have such a high strike rate and still average 23 with the ball, shows how hard he was to score off though.

Yeah. Only one innings where he leaked over 70 runs, too. Considering how pitches got flatter and batsman got better over the years, it's just magical how he had total control over the proceedings when he had the ball in hand.

Wasim's strike rate was increase greatly in last part of his carrier where he used to bowl lots of no balls.
But there is no doubt that Wasim and Waqar were the best ever bowlers ever in ODI history. Both of them had great control over the bowl.
Who like to bat against them with having fast swinging yorker, seaming in and out swings, reverse swing etc etc,

Rawalpindi Express: 223 wickets @ 23.86 with SR 30.4
Would have traveled over 70 runs 4-5 time I think because of his style

I think it is easy to hit a genuine fast bowler Because only you to open the face of the bat and you will see the bowl rockingt in the crowd

A bowler who gets constantly overlooked is Anil Kumble.

Stats:

271 Matches, 337 wickets @ 30.89, 4.30 RPO, SR of 43.0.

337 is a lot of wickets, at a decent average and a fantastic economy rate. It was sad to see that he was overlooked for basically all of the latter half of his career for, IMO, a much inferior bowler in Harbhajan.

Ask SL and Pakistan batsman. They will tell how bad he was.
