England should fancy their chances against Aussie for Ashes!
Just wanted to come back to this point, because it's interesting to me and I was just thinking more about it. I think England have a slightly better overall squad, with a good mix of experience and youth. However, there's a few factors that may work against them.
- Pitch conditions- the lack of swing was a story of the match/series.
- Inexperience in the English quarters- 3 of their likely top 6 have never played in Australia (Crawley, Sibley, and The Pope)

I think it'll be close. I'm obliged to tip Australia but I think this may be England's best chance since 2009. (notably, they don't have to have Monty, Garry Ballance and Scott Borthwick this time)

Take that @zimrahil !!!!!

Oh..opps , my bad, it's not England. Disregard the above (where's the strikeout feature when you need it)

Pant, take a bow. There shouldn't be any question over him for the next 3 full series (at the very least) even if gets ducks and miss chances. He is the "X" factor and he showed what he can do in a session.

Pujara, take a bow. If this was a draw I could envision you getting crucified on social media. Nevertheless, pragmatic fans know the value of your knock. Do not alter your play style, like ever.

Gill, take a bow. You missed out on a century but your knock was as important as Pujara's and Pant's.

Siraj, take a bow. You probably won't play the next India Test but we know your potential now.

Washington, take a bow. You have control, you dry up the runs. You bat like a proper batsman. You've been noticed.

Thakur, take a bow. Your partnership with Washington was worth its weight in gold, a match changing one. You've been noticed too.

Rahane, take a bow. The team looks comfortable when you're in charge. Though you didn't fire in this Test or the 3rd Test, your century in the 2nd Test changed the course of the series. From the horror of expecting 0-4, you have taken this team with limited resources to 2-1. Congratulations!

I've been proven wrong once again. I seriously didn't think we would go for a win, rather thought we would take the safe approach of playing for a draw. I'm already looking forward to the English series. The selectors have a task cut out for them and although we know the injured players will come back and take their place, and rightly so, this new crop of players will be waiting for their opportunity with bated breath.

Beware @zimrahil , opps, I mean England!
Well done to India that truly is a stunning victory but we both know pre England series you will discretely go back into negative mode expecting England to win every test by 10 wickets if first hour of every test doesn’t go your way ;)

Batting is bloody horrible
I have to slightly disagree here. We've really been let down by our only decent opener being injured, I think Cam Green was also outstanding for a debut series. Ultimately, what we need is a world class five to come in, because IMHO Warner is too good not to reclaim some form.

My ideal Top 7 would be
1. Pucovski
2. Warner (if he doesn't regain his form, we have to look elsewhere, which'll be hard)
3. Loose Bus Change
4. Smith
5. Head (Fraser-McGurk long term)
6. Green
7. Wade
And then our bowling allrounders

To be very honest, the bowling was too dependent on Josh & Pat this series.

Each one in the team deserves it. Not just Ravi Shastri.
Obviously, but I think Shastri maybe doesn't get the credit he probably deserves. I certainly thought his appointment was somewhat misguided but India look like a team to be feared in any format and any conditions. Probably for the first time.

Absolutely too. I wouldn't put a lot of blame on Gary- he didn't get a pitch that suited him, possibly barring Adelaide but we didn't get the chance to see that. But I would like to see someone like Jhye Richardson given a game maybe. South Africa may be a chance to trial a fourth quick.

Not sure why you're too keen on dropping Paine, Wade as a specialist keeper is something that should never happen again.

A fit Patto or Jhye long term could be excellent options.

He deserves total credit for most of the hangovers that will be prevalent tomorrow.

This series victory was never going to happen with Kohli still as the captain IMO. I'll make a longer post detailing why I feel that way but having a tactically excellent mind with a cool head like Rohit and Rahane combined with a pure motivator like Shastri may be something that could work.
