the praising for the IND team fighting very hard is all good , young team first tour new captain blah blah etc ..

that we all know .

but the summary of this series is :

-> could not defend 350+ score twice . ( 1 of that match had even Bumrah )
-> ok even if leave that 350 thing , could not even chase 190 odd runs

-> 1 match won that too because ENG had an impossible 600 to chase

there should be questions for the coach now . 3-0 by NZ was anyways should have been coach's final tour but ...

Should have had a game plan to stop leaking runs like from the 50th over onward you could have had Jaddu bowling negative outside leg stump line from one end and a medium fast bowler on the other end to attack, why Gambhir never think of these things guys

Reports suggest Woakes will bat if required. I'm not keeping my hopes high. 35 is not enough cushion to take the remaining wickets. One over fetching 10-12 runs and the fielding team will panic.

Needed at least a 50 more to have a chance.

India had their moments they fail to capitalize.

Whereas whenever England got any sniff they grabbed it with both hands the last innings of both 1st and 3rd test.

Siraj stepping on the boundary cushion yesterday might very well be the series deciding moment.

The best chance was yesterday last one hour only where India squeezed the momentum by bowling tight spells but weather had other plans.

Overall one of the best and exciting series to watch in recent times.

Kudos to both the teams especially Indian team to be able to keep the series alive till the 5th Test.

Also the use of roller be it heavy or light will have some sort of impact on pitch.

Expect Jamie Smith to quickly finish it up in an hour.

What can the coach do if the captain isnt able to force something? Tactically, on field Gill has been a fish without gills.

I've mentioned it before, Gambhir will have a tough time unless the team's transition is seamless. ODIs and T20s are hitherto different and the team is a force to reckon with there, but Test matches- we have been found wanting.

Captaincy, middle order and bowling. That said, I sense Morkel getting the sack soon enough. India would have been better off with someone like Donald or we can get back Arun. If the BCCI wants a change in the Test setup, I can sense then gravitating towards Flower or Ponting ,that is if they choose to relinquish their IPL duties. The other alternativse for Test head coach could be Gillespie or Kirsten.

Don't get all this negativity around India, they've gone to the other big 2 nations, fought tooth and nail till the very end, and may lose only on the last day 3-1 in both series (if India lose today). These aren't bad results, especially considering in Australia you had Rohit and Kohli wasting 2 places all series, and here you've got a young captains first test series, with quite a young team around him at times.

I wouldn't be even slightly worried about what India have done the last few series. Of course the NZ series was a disaster but that's long gone now. Australia and England are 2 of the best 3 test sides in the world right now, these results away from home are nothing to worry about.

Mate, the performance has been erratic. We haven't won enough sessions on the trot. The tets matches haven't gone down to the wire either. What I don't see is the rear gaurd standing up and making it count. The openers have been inconsistent, middle order is in shambles, spin bowling is non existent. Fast bowling- ehh what's that? Sports of decent bowling -1/10 days doesn't count towards exceptional performances.

I will not get started on the captaincy, but it is evident that Gill isn't the right choice to lead in 5 day games.
