Reaction:
Our bowling was stellar and easily rolled over Zim,it was the top order collapse after the openers got 20 odd each that surprised me,the only other top 7 batsman to get into double figures was Paranavitana.
The tail all got contributed:
Vaas(29),Malinga(23),Mendis(28) and Murali(14no)
and I was content until Rainsford injured Mendis with a bouncer!!!!
Sameraweera was stellar in bowling overall!

Samaraweera was brilliant with the ball but your batting is so inconsistent. You need some constant performers that can get you the runs, as its different people everytime and the first innings was very poor. You did still win, however.

Loving this story.

It's a shame really. Not a lot to talk about in this match since Ive been saying the same thing over and over for the last 4 or so tests. Only out of the ordinary thing here was that t was a pacers pitch and the Zimbabwe bowlers did a great job of keeping my runs down. I only had about 240 at the end of day one. But from there my bowlers just killed again. de Silva is a long term prospect.

I saw your first innings and thought they were going to give you a game but your bowlers were even better than theirs. Manyuma and Rainsford have shown some promise though so its not all bad for Zimbabwe.

Great story, guys.

1st ODI:
Sl:

Sangakkara
Vandort
M.Jayawardene
Paranavitana
Sameraweera
Dilshan
Chandana
Vaas
Indrasiri
Malinga
Muralidaran

The changes to the ODI team are Sanga opening with Warnapura dropping out,Dilshan sliding into the middle order to take the keeping duties,Chandana replaces Pressana because of his failure in ODI's and Indrasiri's left arm spinners are to replace the injured mystery spinner Mendis.

Taibu
Strydom
Masakadza
Chigambura
Rinke

Manyumwa 1/40

Zim innings:151,28.3 overs
Matsikenyeri 31
Rinke 31

Indrasiri 6/38
Muralidaran 2/22

MOTM:S.Indrasiri

Result:SL win by 144 runs.

Reaction:
Vandort and Sanga gave me a good start, followed up with Jaya being dismissed without scoring.
Neither Sameraweera nor Dishan got a good score, and it looked like a collapse, but Paranavitana and Chandana had different idea's!
They both almost stayed at a run a ball strike rates, and with a bit of big hitting by Vaas at the end they almost topped 300!!!

Vaas and Malinga were rather ineffective, except when Malinga dismissed Coventry.
The spinning combination of debutent Indrasiri,The master Murali and Chandana had Zim absolutely tied up.
I'm considering playing an allrounder as my second pacemen and playing all three of Murali,Mendis and Indrasiri, that could be really deadly!!!

Zimbabwe were never going to chase down that total and Indrasiri definitely made sure of that. Not much to talk about when you are playing Zimbabwe, you could go with an allrounder and three spinners and win comfortabley, doesn't really matter against Zimbabwe. ;)

Good stuff.

MOTM Sangakarra

Reaction: Wow, something to actually write about. Amazing work by Sangakarra to score a century with a team collapsing around him on a pitch that was amazing for pace and offered nothing at all for spin. Nobody else reached past 35. Sanga really saved me there. The bowling was quite funny really. Only needing something like 4 an over they still managed to score underneath that to start needing 6 an over. Fast bowlers dominated on a fast pitch with Malinga being the pick but de Silva (2/37 off 10) and Lakshitha (2/20 off 10) proved to be great economically and as wicket takers. Murali on the other hand is just a total legend. 3/23 off a pitch that offered nothing at all for spinners. 2 matches to go:)

Chigumbura 2/43
Rainsford 1/38

MOTM:T.Sameraweera

Result:SL win by 7 wickets.

Reaction:
Zimbabwe batted first for once.
Malinga quickly had them 2/21 with early wickets.
The third wicket only put on 21 more so it was going down the path of the first matches Zim innings, and Indrisiri hadn't even been called on yet!
Taibu and Strydom added 80 odd for the fourth wicket to put Zim out of immediate danger.
Indrisiri wasn't very effective this time, however Murali,Malinga and Sameraweera had reduced them when they looked like stealing the show with a big score.

Vandort went first delivery of the match,Sanga was then paired with Jaya.
They put on 100+ together and 43 from 33 deliveries from Sameraweera put the match in place.Jaya was brilliant and Sanga hardly gave a chance before he got out.

Another easy win.

Taibu is always a star for Zimbabwe.. but a lonely star  Zimbabwe had to have team effort if they have to win. :mad :p

Zimbabwe 193/10

Taibu 58
Coventry 47
Murali 4/41
Lakshitha 3/50

Result: Sri Lanka win by 90 Runs.
MOTM: Murali

Reaction: Lost the toss and was put into Bat on a pitch favoring seamers. My Batsmen did great with Sanga getting 77(96) Silva 51(38) and Samaraweera 38(31) I bit gutted to not get the 300 score but lost a few quick wickets towards the end. 280 was still easily enough I thought... And it was :p Zimbabwe made a solid effort with the chase but they were just never quick enough to chase my score, and that led to there downfall. Murali proving how much of a legend he is by again being the lead wicket taker and MOTM on a pitch offering nothing at all for spin.
