1st semi final: England vs Australia

I'd rather see Ferguson at 4, he can play the Clarke role of knocking it about for singles during the middle overs, White at 5, either biffing or play his way in depending on the situation and the Hussey as the finisher.

Wonder how Broad got his buttock injury. Probably was taking too much up there. He always seems to be taking games off for minor injuries. He needs to stop being such a girl.

Aus recently won 6-1 series against England, Aus will not take Eng lightly, because now its semis, and Eng had won last match against Aus, should be a good game, Aus though have upper hand, still i feel it wont be a one sided or it wont be easy for Aus, Eng is looking good in CT

ENGLAND WILL BE EYING A REVENGE AGAINST AUSTRALIA FOR PREVIOUS WHITEWASH ODI SERIES. IT WILL BE FASCINATING MATCH TO WATCH.

Australia won't change their batting side. They only change their side if there is an OBVIOUS problem eg. Phil Hughes couldn't play anything straight in the Ashes. That to me was glaringly obvious, it was obvious to England and the only guys who didn't see it were the South Africans who had no idea how to bowl to him as Mickey Arthur admitted.

Anyway, the only OBVIOUS problems I can see with the batting lineup is:
1) Paine generally doesn't rotate the strike enough early and can put Watson under pressure
2) Watson isn't clicking, seems to be hitting them well but just can't get a big score
2) Hopes can't play spin well and if he gets in early (before 40 overs) we are in trouble
3) White is not sure of his role anymore. Batting at #3 was great for him, but he seems a bit lost lower down
4) Mitch is batting too low! Well, he can't really go much higher except as a pinch hitter I suppose.

Not much you can do about most of those. Tell Paine to look for more singles and hide Hopes from the spinners (the only other place he could go would be opener - and he can't play long enough innings to justify that move). So the ONLY change I would make is to bat White at least at #5, possibly at #4. That's about it. White is a bit like Symonds, you have to give him the chance to click and get that big score so send him in earlier. He just seems to have that hundred making potential a bit more than Ferguson. So Ferguson at #6 for me.

How about batting Johnson above Hopes?

Johnson has shown that he can play spin better than Hopes and also by coming at no.8 Hopes has a good chance to hide from spinners.:p

Gee how many times have Australia played England this year? :p

This is gonna be a good match, let's hope the rain stays away. The Aussies have looked good in all thier matches going into the semi final unbeaten and England have managed to beat two of the tournament favourites.

Would be good to see the Poms get an upset over the Aussies but I have a gut feeling Australia will win.

It'll be interesting to see who New Zealand will be playing in the final.
