ZIM COACH OPPTIMISTIC ABOUT COMING CUP

Zimbabwe coach Matt West has stated that he believes his team will have a great chance about winning their first ever major trophy.
"We have a great bowling and batting attack. We could challenge the aussies, pakistani's and indians. We will be the major dark horse but that is good as we have no pressure. Since i have taken over i have been impressed with the effort of all the lads but especially Elton Chigumbura, he has great all round potential. Good luck to all the teams."

We're definitely one of the favourites for this competition - our squad speaks for itself. We've got a particularly strong batting line-up and I think other teams might find it difficult to restrict us to small scores. And then of course we've got Murali.

Mahela Jayawardene will be continuing as captain for this series, he's responded incredibly well to the honour since Marvan was injured and has brought a lot of success to Sri Lanka. Marvan Atapattu will of course be at his side to help him out along the way.

The first XI should be:

C.Chibhabha
B.Taylor
E.Chigumbura
V.Sibanda
H.Mazakadza
S.Matsikenyeri
T.Taibu (Captain, WK)
H.Streak
P.Utseya
T.Panyangara
A.Ireland
E.Rainsford

Opening bowlers: Eddie Rainsford and Ireland(Is at his best when the ball is new)
Bowlers to be used after that: Streak, Utseya, Payangara, Chigumbura/Chibhabha/Matsikenyeri (Based on conditions, situation, pitch, etc.)
Streak, Utseya and Eddie should be the only ones to complete their full spells. Ireland could get 2 overs early on, maybe even 3, but that's it. Payangara, if bowling well, could complete his quota. Otherwise, let him bowl a sharp 2-over spell alongside the spinners. Matsinkeyeri should be used if the pitch is offering some turn. If it is seaming, use Chigumbura and Chibhabha (And maybe let Ireland complete his spell). If it's flat, turn to Matsinkeyeri (And prefer Payangara to Elton/Chamu). Streak and Utseya should be utilised in the death of the innings. Rainsford bowls his 4 straight.
Hope that helps :) :p
Oh yea: Chigumbura is a handy pinch-hitting option. If off to a good start, promote Taibu up the order, otherwise hold him back till like the last 5.

Wickets Fall As Australia Hit Out!
Australia started hitting out and with that it led England to believe they had a chance! And boy did they take it!

Martyn started to look like he could play a few shots and only for brilliant fielding from both Pietersen and Bell did he not score more runs. Martyn proved that he should leave the big hitting to the guys who can do it, and went for a shot which was never there!

Martyn gone to a stupid shot! Off Stump Took Off!

Giles proved he could do it for England when he bowled 3 balls which begged to be hit for six, the first two turned sharply while Katich swung and missed, but the third didnt turn and Katich connected, the ball didnt go were Katich wanted it to, Strauss's hands was the final stop!

Giles Showing What He Can Do! Will Panesar Play If Giles Continues?

Langer played a superb innings from ball one. He kept the ball on the ground and found the gaps, and really put pressure back on the field as any mistakes ment a boundry. After a short 20/20 stint with Somerset he looked like he was a master, until he pulled of a stupid stroke, much like the ball he fell to playing for Somerset in thier 250 run world record!

Langer Swings And Misses And The Captain Cleans Up Middle Stump!
