30 probables - World 2011 heroes missing. What's your take on that.. ?

Maybe you are right at some extent but not completely. Jadav cannot get a special skill which Gambhir has. Yes, its experiance. Have a look at Pakistani probabes for WC. They nearly have 45% of experienced players. Hope an good result with "Youngsters Team on Foreign Pitch."
Its always great to watch youngsters perform. But I am afraid most of the probables wont make it to the squad and most of the players in Squad wont make it to the XI.Dhoni doesn't change his XI much and with the others being inexperienced he may go with the same XI.Anyway this could be a great boost up for them anyway.

no time to be nostalgic. there's a world cup to win. those players have not done enough to warrant selection. if we do not retain the world cup, it will not be because we didn't select them.

there's no winning with indian fans. csk lobby, it's because sachin retired, it's because overweight yuvi, sehwag, and zaheer aren't playing, and because an out of sorts gambhir and bhajji weren't selected.

A world cup winning squad almost entirely replaced before the next. Just 1 retirement and 1 banned for life in that period. To look at it that way, it is insane.

To be fair the heroes of the past world cup made themselves unselectable for the WC. Sehwag averages less than tail enders in the past season. Gambhir made himself a non entity on the tour to england with six successive failures on a comeback ! Yuvi is too unfit for modern day cricket. Harbhajan long forgot how to take wickets on the Int'l stage, and I am not sure he features in the top 5 indian spinners today. How can you possibly justify selecting any of them.

Its fine to blame Srini and MSD where they are at fault, but to blame them for Sehwag's form, Gambhir throwing away his shot at a comeback, Yuvi being unfit and Harbhajan forgetting how to take wickets, then you are pushing it.

I am a huge Sehwag fan, and even I will admit the only way he would get in is on sentiment, and not for any cricketing reason. The same holds true for all of them.

I think it's a great move, obviously some players are missing due to retirement but I like India employing new blood, better fielders and guys who have a point to prove. They are young hungry lions...or so I hope.

Sehwag was dropped after a double ton. I dont think he made it back to the team after he played that brilliant knock. Take the case of Rohit, who scores on flat tracks and still finds a mention in the playing XI

I agree that Gautam Gambhir failed. But, he got only 2 chances to prove himself. Its not as if the rest of the team did exceedingly well on that tour.

Yuvi is the only one I find that has been axed with a proper reasoning. I have long felt that he made it back to the team on account of his 'sentimental issues'. That was proven in the last World T20.

Harbhajan- I dont agree. There isn't another Indian spinner who can make headlines. R Ashwin hasn't delivered and neither has Jadeja. Amit Mishra is a case to not to be mentioned at all.

Sehwag was dropped after a double ton.

Err no he wasn't. Sehwag's got a good run after his last test 100, which was a ton, not a double ton. After his 117 he had scores of 25, 30, 9, 23, 49, 0, 2, 19, 6. Also worth noting is that before his 117, his last ton was a whopping 31 innings ago. I would think its droppable form however you look at it.

In ODIs after is 219 against WI, his scores were 10, 20, 0, 30, 5, 96, 15, 3, 34, 4, 31. Hardly a great run.

Sehwag got his chances after he scored his last tonnes in both ODIs and Tests.

He played in the final three tests, thats 2 chances per match, thats 6 chances to prove himself. Did he even get to double figures in any one of those six innings. On a comeback one cannot have 6 straight failures. Its a comeback opportunity blown big time.
