A Heart of Gold - Part 9
Route 35
Buoyed from my success in the Goldenrod Gym, I headed north onto route 35. There were a whole heap of trainers up here to battle and strengthen my Pokemon on. They weren't too difficult to fight, but their sheer numbers made it quite annoying. At the end of the route was a policeman who for some reason suspected me, despite being only 10 years old, so I had to battle him as well. There was some grass along the route so I caught a number of new Pokemon here to add to my Pokedex.
Pokeathlon Dome
At the end of the route was a building that had two exits. I decided to go left and ended up at the Pokeathlon Dome. It was a huge, modern building and I was in awe of its immenseness. As I headed towards it a person came up to me and introduced himself as Magnus. I think he was the guy who created it. Inside this place you can compete in events using your Pokemon. It seemed kinda fun so I entered but everyone else was much more experienced than me so I lost unfortunately. It was rather fun though.
National Park
Next door to the Pokeathlon Dome was the National Park, where the bug catching competition is held. There were a few trainers here to battle, and some new wild Pokemon to catch as always. I went exploring in the woods around the park for a bit and found some cool items. Having done that I decided I may as well try and compete in the Bug Catching Competition. I don't really like bugs but they were Pokemon so would be good additions to my Pokedex. We were given 20 minutes and 20 Park Balls to catch the best bug Pokemon we could. I managed to grab a number of Pokemon but decided to keep a Beedrill. Unfortunately however it wasn't good enough to place and I received a Shed Shell for not placing.
Route 36
There were a couple of trainers here and some wild Pokemon, but this route was pretty short so it didn't take long to reach the end of it. Annoyingly though, there was this random tree thing blocking my way. One of the people said that it seemed to dance when water was poured on it. I remembered there was a flower shop in Goldenrod City, so I went back there, and the nice lady inside gave me a squirtbottle to pour water onto the tree thing. When I poured the water, the tree attacked me! It turned out to be the Pokemon Sudowoodo, so I caught it to add to my collection.
Route 37
On this route I came across my first double battles. This is two on two battling and introduces a few new strategies but is for the most part the same. The trainers were still pretty easy thanks to my exceptional training. There were a couple of new Pokemon here as well, and I caught a Stantler and Growlithe.
