A Leftie's draft

Man you really did draw the short straw when it came to choosing order. Huge gaps followed by 2 picks in a row and then another big gap.

I know haha, my picks add up to 46 instead of 28 :S

Ah well I've done well for my picks and can really finish off strong here :D Although if my next two picks were consecutive it would ease the stress.

No you don't get a double because you got the 1st pick in round 7. The draft resets after every 2nd round. But the random order has been putting you either first or last a lot... And round 11 has to stand by itself so that was randomly drawn too, you did just marginally better than me in that one :(

Fair call, I'll have to cope then :) I've got three big picks lined up, hopefully no one takes them!

Sourav Ganguly

Shooooooooooot. I had set myself up nicely for Ganguly at number 6 for my next pick. :facepalm No matter, still have others in the list, but my favorite leftie is gone! :(

Goddard is pretty good but if you want him as a bowler, his strike rate was pretty pathetic.

This seems to be a common problem among left arm bowlers in general. Very few were used as strike bowlers. Consider for example Sir Garfield Sobers - generally acknowledged as the 2nd best cricketer ever for his all-round genius, yet his strike rate is AWFUL: 91.9. He was basically used as a holding bowler by the Windies who could slip in the odd good ball occasionally. He showed though for Notts and South Australia that he could strike more often - S/R around 60ish for those 2 teams. But it's still interesting to see how most Test teams used their left armers. That's what makes those bowlers who have good strike rates gold in this kind of draft.

And shravi you've opened my eyes mate. I'd honestly never heard of Phil Mead, but he sounds like a reasonable player. The only other guys I'd never heard of before this draft was Bill Whitty and Richard Collinge. And some others I'd heard of, I just didn't know much about eg. Johnny Wardle, Iqbal Qasim. There's probably gonna be a few more interesting picks as we keep going...:D

Then hopefully you will pick my guy :) One super bad ass SC batsman who no one is picking :(

:laugh I've had my eye on Ganguly for a while and I thought I better pick him now or else someone else will and I'll wallow in regret. Glad I did now! :D

Ah fark, I just checked and you actually picked him Dare, my guy was Saeed Anwar. I was so surprised he was not picked earlier. Leaving stats aside he was a joy to watch and this coming from someone who hates batting.

I thought you were talking about someone totally different. What was the SC for?

:laugh Told ya!

Oh thought it meant something else.
But Im with you about Anwar. If this was a ODI draft he would have gone much earlier but people don't realize that he was a great test opener also.

Dare added 0 Minutes and 51 Seconds later...

BTW how long has it been since Iridum made his pick?

I had him down on my list, but for some reason I thought he was already taken long before you nabbed him.
