Briggs And White Fire Yorkshire Into Contention
At The Oval

Fifties from Shaun Briggs and Craig White put Yorkshire into control as they posted 189 for 4 from their 20 overs. The contribution of Ian Harvey also helped Yorkshire as he chipped in with a quick fire 48 at the top of the innings as Warwickshire failed to cope with the attacking play of the Yorkshire batsmen. Yorkshire captain White took the bowlers to pieces at the end of the innings, showing no mercy to any of them, especially Ian Bell who came in for the majority of the punishment. Ashley Giles deserves a special mention for his fine bowling in the middle stages conceding only 13 runs from his 4 overs, while Neil Carter picked up 2 wickets but was rather expensive going for 44 from his 4 overs. Warwickshire have an uphill struggle now if they want to progress to the final later on tonight while Yorkshire will now feel comfortable defending such a large total with the bowling attack they have.

From Briggs View
A fine innings from Briggs saw him score his first half century of the competition. While Harvey and White both swung their bat and played the attacking shots, Briggs was more content in placing the ball around for singles and two's, despite hitting the big shots at the start. Briggs' demise came at the latter stages of the game when the big hitting needed to be played, Ian Bell the bowler who will probably feel rather fortunate to have gotten the wicket considering how poor he bowled. A full ball was there for the taking and Briggs went for it but only found the hands of Powell who took a comfortable catch on the boundary as Briggs received a standing ovation from the mix of fans at The Oval for his fine innings.

Yorkshire Scrape Through Despite Bell's Efforts
At The Oval

The delight was there to be seen as Yorkshire celebrated going through to the final of The Twenty20 Cup as they defeated Warwickshire by 18 runs in the first semi final of the day. Warwickshire never looked like getting near the Yorkshire total despite some late efforts from the lower order and a cracking innings from Ian Bell who hit 52 from 36 nearly took Warwickshire to the final but it was not to be as the total just got out of reach and Yorkshire now advance to play either Glamorgan or Nottinghamshire who have been beaten twice already by Yorkshire this year. Lawson, Briggs, and Kruis were all in the wickets for Yorkshire and now the team can sit back and relax until the final comes around later on tonight.

From Briggs View
It was another fine bowling performance from Briggs and yet another economical one, going for only 18 runs from his 4 overs while picking up the valuable wicket of Warwickshire captain Nick Knight along the way. Briggs played his part in the low run rate during the middle of the innings and it was that part of the game which really swung the game well into Yorkshire's grasp as Briggs and Lawson bowled brilliantly in tandom to restrict the batsmen. The wicket of Knight was a vital one as he is a man who can change a game single handedly, clean bowling him with a peach of a ball in his first over. Briggs will now play his first ever final for Yorkshire, and what an experience its going to be for him.

Shaun Briggs 4-0-18-1

1st Over: WICKET! Excellent start for Briggs who replies brilliantly after being hit for 4 by Knight, he later clean bowls the former England opener with a peach of a ball. 4 runs from the over.
2nd Over: Briggs is fired up after his first over and forces Trott to play and miss at a beauty. 2 runs from the over.
3rd Over: Bell cracks a 4 through the covers as Warwickshire look to up the pace. 5 from the over.
4th Over: Briggs bowls his first no ball of the innings but keeps it tight yet again in his final over. 6 runs from the over.
