Another fine performance from Briggs who can now sit back and watch the second semi-final before taking part in the final which looks set to be a cracking one. Can Briggs inspire Yorkshire to victory!?!

No scorecards because of that dam over bug!

captains7ie.jpg

DL: Right, ive got these two chaps here with me, the captains of the teams in the final; Robert Croft and Craig White, well lads you've both played amazingly well to get here, how do you feel about the upcoming final?

RC: Well obviously bumble we are all delighted in the Glamorgan camp to be here, its our first Twenty20 final and we hope to make the most of it.

DL: And you, Craig?

CW: Yeah all the lads are up for it, we played really well against Warwickshire earlier today, and we've had a nice long rest so were all feeling fresh and ready.

DL: We saw today a few of both teams players that are looking in good nick, maybe you two could enlighten us more on who to watch out for in the final

RC: Well obviously we've got the talent of Elliott opening up for us at the top he's a reliable player at this level, and our bowling department isnt that bad either, hopefully Kasper can do a job for us like he did in the first semi.

CW: I think all our team is in good nick at the moment, you know were on the back of some pretty big scores and if our openers get us off to a flyer like they have done previously then we could be in with a great chance.

DL: So come on then, who's gonna win? (laughs)

RC: Ahh ill leave that to you to decide bumble!

CW: Obviously Yorkshire are gonna win mate!

DL: Wooo theres the fighting talk coming out already! Well best of luck to both of you, and make it a special final for everyone watching!

Yorkshire vs Glamorgan
The Oval

After a day full of fun and some fantastic cricket, it all comes down to this, the final between Yorkshire and Glamorgan will decide who wins the 2005 Twenty20 Cup. Yorkshire will feel refreshed from their win earlier on today and have had most of the day to relax whereas Glamorgan have only just come from their win against Nottinghamshire, but will feel they are in game mode and ready to play. The conditions were not expected to be much different from earlier on, but with 2 games having been played on it, the captains decided to take a look at them before the all important toss.

The brilliant conditions remain intact for the final which is good news for both players and fans alike. Many of the Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire fans have stuck around for the final so the ground is still full and the voices of both sets of fans is adding to the real carnival atmosphere. The match referee made his way down to the middle to conduct the coin toss.

A huge roar was heard from the crowd when it was announced that Yorkshire had won the toss and elected to bat first. It seems the majority of fans inside the ground are supporting Yorkshire here, and what adds more to that would be the fact is that in a way its England against Wales so even more will be up for grabs here! The players made their way out onto the field to a fantastic reception and the 2005 Twenty20 Cup final was ready to begin.

Glamorgan Fightback After Harvey And Briggs Dominate
At The Oval

An opening stand of 138 between Ian Harvey and Shaun Briggs put Yorkshire in a stong position after their innings, despite a late Glamorgan fightback. Yorkshire ended on 172 for 6 after their 20 overs, still a very large score but it should have been more considering at the half way stage Yorkshire were on 100 exact. Harvey and Briggs dominated the Glamorgan bowlers with some fantastic strikes, especially from Harvey who dominated the bowlers with some huge sixes. However, once Harvey got out, Yorkshire began to struggle, and with Briggs not getting much strike, the runs were not flowing as they had been, and some brilliant depth bowling by Ian Thomas who picked up 3 for 8 restricted Yorkshire and Briggs finished 67 not out, his second score of 50+ today. Glamorgan will have to bat very well now to win this one, but we are all set for a cracking match now and the runs will have to flow quickly if Glamorgan have any hope of winning this one.

From Briggs View
Briggs rose to the occasion with a fantastic knock which took Yorkshire to a respectable score after 20 overs. Together with Harvey, the two ripped the opening bowlers apart, hammering them to all parts, and even Briggs enjoyed some success over Harvey early on, outscoring the big hitting Australian right up until he had passed 50, but it would be Harvey's wicket that would restrict Briggs as he was denied strike on several occasions and some clever fielding positioning by Robert Croft meant Briggs could not get on strike as often as he would have liked. Despite that though, Briggs will be very pleased with his efforts here and if he bowls Yorkshire to Twenty20 success, the season will be all but perfect for the youngster.

Celebrations Begin As Yorkshire Humble Glamorgan
At The Oval

The celebrations begun at The Oval for the Yorkshire fans and players as they beat Glamorgan by 46 runs in the Twenty20 Cup Final. Yorkshire bowled like a team who were determined to win and Glamorgan batted like a team who wanted Yorkshire to win as they gifted them wickets at regular intervals. The only bright sparks in a somewhat poor effort to get the 173 required were the innings of Matthew Elliott and Michael Powell who both played aggressively and with intent of trying to get Glamorgan to the score, but they lacked support, something which the Yorkshire bowlers didnt as each of them picked up wickets and when the final wicket fell, the celebrations begun, fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate with their heroes and the fireworks begun as the new Twenty20 Cup Champions were crowned for 2005.

From Briggs View
You could see as soon as Briggs stepped out onto the field that he was determined to win this game. His bowling showed that as he bowled with venom and determination which unsettled the Glamorgan batsmen who failed to cope with the young Yorkshireman. Briggs finished with fantastic figures of 3 for 9 from just over 3 overs, and how fitting was it when Briggs captured the wicket which won the game when Kasprowicz pulled one straight into the hands of Matthew Wood who held the catch which cued the celebrations.

Shaun Briggs 3.3-1-9-3

1st Over: Maynard hits the very first delivery for 4 from Briggs, but some tight bowling prevents more runs from the over. 4 runs from the over
2nd Over: WICKET! Maynard under pressure after not scoring for some time, goes for a big shot but only finds the hands of a diving Lawson who takes a stunning catch. Maiden over
3rd Over: WICKET! Briggs does it again as Hemp goes this time. A short one deceives Hemp who attempts to hook but the ball goes straight up in the air and into the hands of Vaughan who takes a neat catch. 1 run from the over.
4th Over: WICKET! After Kasprowicz gets lucky with a pull for 4, Briggs replies with another short one and Kasper goes for the bait and finds the hands of Wood who takes the catch which crowns Yorkshire as 2005 Twenty20 champions.
