Story A Season In The Life Of.....................Me...!![C2005]

This could be the match where Briggs might go on to score his maiden 50. All the best for an intersting read.

Somerset Innings From Briggs View

Shaun Briggs bowled very well in the Somerset innings by returning figures of 4 for 48, his best bowling figures in all forms of the game so far. Somerset looked very good at one stage to go on at get a score in excess of 250 but when the spinners came on and took the pace off the ball, 250 looked very unlikely and in the end, Somerset were bowled out for 198 after 43.5 overs.

Shaun Briggs 7.5-1-48-4
1st Over: WICKET! Dream start for Briggs as he is brought into the attack and immediately dismisses South African captain Graeme Smith with his second delivery. Trescothick later hits Briggs for 4.
2nd Over: Tight stuff from Briggs, just a single from the over
3rd Over: Burns hits Briggs away for 4
4th Over: WICKET! Another one for Briggs as Burns hits it straight to Jaques in the covers
5th Over: Bad over from Briggs, Two Fours taken from the over, 12 in total
6th Over: 6 From Briggs' return over
7th Over: Another poor over from Briggs sees him get hit for a Six then a Four
8th Over: WICKETS! Briggs removes McLean then Caddick comes in and hits a six from his first delivery but finally hits out to McGrath to gives Briggs his fourth wicket

Yorkshire Win Comfortably!
At Headingly

Yorkshire completed a 5 wicket victory over Somerset to make it 2 wins out of 2 in the Totesport League. Somerset never looked like winning this game despite making breakthroughs at vital times, but good partnerships held Yorkshire together and guided them home with 2 overs to spare.

From Briggs View
Shaun Briggs completed a fine all round performance by being involved in a stand of 46 with Michael Vaughan which all but sealed victory for Yorkshire. Despite running out the England captain, Briggs played very well and will be forgiven for that mistake!

A good partnership steadied the Yorkshire ship

But it was soon all over for Briggs as he played all around this one from Blackwell (Above/Below)

Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Two
statsafter20xm.jpg

A very good all round performance from Briggs in this game saw him being awarded the man of the match award on his first home game of the season in the Totesport League. A tighter line is needed in this form of the game and as long as Briggs works on bowling that tighter line, a good season is in store for him.

Yorkshire vs Sussex
At Headingly

Yorkshire play their third Totesport League game of the season today against Sussex at Headingly. Conditions were not looking the best as rain has been pouring for the last few days and so a wet pitch was expected. The conditions were inspected by both sets of teams to see if the pitch was playable. Results are below.

A wet pitch and overcast conditions, very good conditions to bowl in and so the winning captain at the toss would definately looking to insert the opposition.

Craig White was the lucky captain and obviously decided to insert the opposition, advantage Yorkshire surely

One change for Yorkshire from the last Totesport League game, Chris Silverwood comes in for Tim Bresnan, while for Sussex, Hopkinson comes in for Naved Ul-Hasan

Sussex Innings From Shaun Briggs View

Shaun Briggs bowled a fantastic spell today continuing his good form from the previous game against Somerset. Briggs obviously enjoys bowling at Headingly and showed that today with excellent figures of 1 for 13 from his 9 overs. Sussex were not at their best today and it was thanks to a camio from Matt Prior that they were able to post a half decent score of 140.

Shaun Briggs 9-2-13-1
1st Over: Tight opening over, just two singles from it
2nd Over: Murray Goodwin tries to play one through the covers but mistimes it and hits it straight in the air, luckily for him though Wood cannot make the ground and it lands safely. Maiden over
3rd Over: Single from the over, good one
4th Over: Briggs bowls his first wide of the competition
5th Over: Briggs keeping it tight, only 2 more singles from it
6th Over: Another maiden over from Briggs, bowling some cracking stuff here
7th Over: WICKET! Goodwin is caught plum infront and Sussex are in deeper trouble now
8th Over: Single from the over
9th Over: Three runs picked up from Briggs' final over, brilliant spell of bowling from him for the second game running.

The Briggs show goes on. The pitch looks terrible though, and I am surprised the batsmen havent objected.
It does indeed!! The pitch is really bad, the second time its been this bad at Headingly! hopefully as the summer goes on, the weather will improve and so too will the pitches.

Yorkshire Complete Nervy Victory

Yorkshire completed a 4 wicket victory against Sussex but it took a very good partnership from White and Blakey to secure that victory. Wickets fell to the spinners at regular intervals and White and Blakey had to battle hard to get Yorkshire home and give them their 3rd victory out of 3.

From Briggs View
Shaun Briggs struggled to cope with the conditions of the pitch and was caught behind by Matt Prior off the bowling of the great Pakistani leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed. Briggs' batting is yet to kick off this season and that will surely be a dissapointment to him.

Briggs comes in, but it would be a short stay for the All Rounder
