A T20 draft...cricket_icon & swacker's picks

the 12th man is Sedition, I presume he can carry drinks and stuff and he does deserve some cred for picking mccullum early who looks rather fantastic right now.

Stephen Fleming has done a good job as coach wherever he's gone, surprised he's not got a national job, and we've got a couple of New Zealanders so he'll do.

I think due to our spin heavy attack we'd be better playing on the subcontinent, somewhere that the ball ripped so the spinners could take wickets but the ball still comes onto the bat. probably mumbai or something, who cares? I'm not researching grounds. :p

the name? er... JP and the sunshine band?

I like it :) but you can't have Sedition as 12th man - he's never played a T20 match! Being a stickler because some people will be planning to pick the best 12th man possible (sorry Sedition :D) And just quietly, it crushes my dream of having Kate Upton as 12th man :(

I'll put you down as Mumbai - sounds good enough to me :thumbs

Tbf, there were far better batters available than Levi. Dilshan and Watson wouls form a great opening pair too.

I can think of one guy - JP Duminy, but just looking at their records it's pretty hard to say he's FAR better than Levi. Duminy might have been worth a shout for Fenil just to get a left hander in there somewhere. But who are the other far better batters than Levi I'm missing?

Disclaimer: I'm not a Levi fan at all, in fact I'm probably the opposite - he seems like a hacker. But he's had decent success thus far.

I assume that it's because he gets more money for coaching in the IPL for two months than he would for coaching New Zealand which is pretty much a year round job. And who would want to coach us when we've averaged pretty much a coach a year for the last five or so years.

Stephan Fleming was offered a job to coach India having a good bond with MS Dhoni(Because of CSK in IPL) but he declined it and now we have Duncan Fletcher.

Some say JP (Duminy) should have been picked (not targeted towards any particular person), but I felt given I had Dussey and Razzaq with lower strike-rates, it would be better to go with a bang bang guy.

By the way, Sedition was a gun pick Stinky. :p May I select my 12 th man now?

I need a new 12th man, I'll take Mitchell Starc because I need a little bit of an extra pace option on seaming wickets. early days in his career but he's been quite succesful in the domestics so far.

I'll take Shaun Marsh as 12th. A left hander being way better batter than JP Duminy. Also, his ability to bat both in middle order as well as open the innings gives the team a good liquidity. On top of that, if needed, we have an option to play Razzaq as specialist bowler so, a batter will be good for us. I had another player in mind who has better stats than Marsh but he has faced low quality bowlers only in most of his short T20 career. Gary Kirsten has been charismatic in his coaching career thus far and I see no other man better to him as coach. With a lot of pacers and the batters -- who likes to play the ball coming on to bat -- in the team, Perth seems to be a good homeground. West Australian Jocunds feel a bit apt (considering the homeground) as well as unique name for the team.

awesome pick. I was going to have him in the australia round but I came too early to turn down some of the big guns available.

I too was in dilemma as I had first pick in Australia round. Glad that I finally got three of the best Aussies - Watto, Dussey and Sos.

Alfonso Thomas | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo

I'll have Alfonso Thomas who is the second highest wicket taker in T20 cricket as my 12th man. He is a vastly experienced T20 bowler and can bowl at death with ease. As I feel I have enough batting firepower so, pure bowler was needed. We can always drop any of the bowling ARs and play Thomas.

Wasim Akram will coach us. He will take care of the bowling. Adam Gilchrist can act as a mentor (batting) cum player cum captain cum wicketkeeper. :p

I'll have Lord's, the home of cricket as my home ground. Guys like Mahmood, Mascarenhas, Thomas become more handy with that as they have played so much cricket there. And, other players are good enough to play anywhere in the world.

For the name, Pommy Pommy, single Pommy, Tri Oz and 7 others XI? :o

How about Newausrirewindistanricand as the team name, Gaurav?

All pretty good 12th men selections thus far...but have any been selected for their fielding ability? ;) Of course it doesn't matter, there are heaps of reasons to have a 12th man - good drink mixer might be one as well :p

Cricket Icon has had enough time to have first crack at the remaining players/coaches/grounds, so Bevab you are free to step up and finish off your team

Oh and cool that Mishra got picked too :)

Also...I was thinking of playing out of Kolkata, oh well I'll have another look at some other grounds.
