A solid pick. Was hoping to pick, but I needed a keeper and already had too many bowlers. :(

^Haha - well that was the idea :) Well more precisely, the idea was to have round 11 as the most even round, talent wise and I thought South Africa was that nation. We saw NO South African picked in the first 2 rounds, and even now there are some real good players left, particularly if you want a bowler.

My final pick is Morne Morkel.

Final look
1. Kamran Akmal (wk)
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. Shahid Afridi (c)
4. Owais Shah
5. Mahela Jayawardene
6. Dwayne Bravo
7. Jacob Oram
8. Graeme Swann
9. Hamid Hassan
10. Dirk Nannes
11. Morne Morkel

^Nice one - yep he's one of the bowlers I was thinking about. I like that final XI - one of the best for me :thumbs

Johan Botha | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo

I was hoping to pick Botha in this round but, felt he would go by now. He hasn't so, he's playing for my team now. Look at his economy rate. That's incredible for a spinner in this format and has played over 120 T20 matches. He can bat too. He completes my XI. I have 8 guys who can bowl and bowl well and about 10 who can bat and bat (whack) well. Ojha and Botha can form a wonderful spin duo and the pacers are all good. Southee can swing it, Vaas is vastly experienced, Mascarenhas is miserly, Mahmood, Symonds and Russell can all chip in with the bowl. I love the batting of my team tbh. And, yeah Gilly to lead.

01. David Warner
02. Adam Gilchrist (c) (wk)
03. Paul Stirling
04. Andrew Symonds
05. Azhar Mahmood
06. Andre Russell
07. Dimitri Mascarenhas
08. Johan Botha
09. Chaminda Vaas
10. Tim Southee
11. Pragyan Ojha

I like StinkyBoHoon's team .:)

A great pick Aoun. Some people rate him lower than Steyn but the fact is, he is better than the former in the shorter formats. Despite loads of bowling options that my team has, I'd have picked him up if he was left for me (much to the disappointment of Jason :p). I'm pretty baffled now, whom to pick? I'll prefer a batter now but all I can see in front of me is long long time of pacers...

Okay, I've made up by mind. Will go with, probably one of cleanest strikers of the ball in world cricket at the moment, Richard Levi.

----------

So, here is my final team. Got a solid batting line-up there. Bowling looks a bit below par I feel but #1 allrounder Watto is good enough to tighten things up alongwith Razzaq and part-timers, Dussey and Dillu.

:aus: :ar: Shane Watson
:saf: :bat: Richard Levi
:eng: :bat: Kevin Pietersen
:sri: :arwk: TM Dilshan
:aus: :ar: David Hussey :c:
:eng: :wk: Matt Prior (wk)
:pak: :ar: Abdul Razzaq
:ire: :bwl: George Dockrell
:nz: :bwl: Shane Bond
:ind: :bwl: Munaf Patel
:wi: :bwl: Devendra Bishoo

Tbf, there were far better batters available than Levi. Dilshan and Watson wouls form a great opening pair too.

As I mentioned, I didn't had much idea about batters. Levi has great strike-rate which prompted me to go in his favor. As far opening slot is concerned, Levi has done all his good while opening and I'd want Dillu to make the middle order not go brittle.

I think we're ok really, sort of, I would pick another seamer if they were available but I don't think putting tsotobe or langeveldt in is really worth it.

so I'll pick JP duminy, I rate him among the best middle order twenty batsmen, he's extremely good at teeing off late in the over but is capable enough to play better. when I was thinking about an all time twenty XI he was my choice to play 5.

Hamilton Masakadza
Sanath Jayasuriya
Brendon McCullum+
Michael Hussey
JP Duminy
Craig McMillan*
Kieron Pollard
Naved-ul-Hasan
Stuart Broad
Ravichandran Ashwin
Sunil Narine

so that's us. big hitters down the order, plenty of decent bowling with enough part timers. if it's seaming pollard takes 4, if it's spinning jayasuriya takes them. duminy can chip in.

the 12th man is Sedition, I presume he can carry drinks and stuff and he does deserve some cred for picking mccullum early who looks rather fantastic right now.

Stephen Fleming has done a good job as coach wherever he's gone, surprised he's not got a national job, and we've got a couple of New Zealanders so he'll do.

I think due to our spin heavy attack we'd be better playing on the subcontinent, somewhere that the ball ripped so the spinners could take wickets but the ball still comes onto the bat. probably mumbai or something, who cares? I'm not researching grounds. :p

the name? er... JP and the sunshine band?

Haha, I like it :thumbs Most guys there had made my shortlist and none that I absolutely wouldn't have picked, so shouldn't be any managerial conflict there :spy Pretty happy that you discarded Ryder in particular :p

Somewhere in the subcontinent would be ideal as a homeground. Wherever our batsmen average high and bowlers low, sounds good to me.
