Great story Bala!!! I like the presentation very much!!!:happy

If I were you(which would never be possible as Id never be a blue),Id do the sort of stuff Ive been doing with Liverpool in this game(Ive played one and half seasons so far and won 6 trophies).

->Get Van Den Borre(he'll cost around 4 million with a release clause). He can play anywhere in the defense and midfield,I usually put him as a defensive midfielder.

->Id spend some big cash to get a striker, the everton strike force will struggle at its current strength. If youre really struggling to get anyone to Everton which is quite obvious, try scouting for some youth or finding someone in the transfer list.

These are the players who Ive got so far in Liverpool and have made a difference:Van der boore, torres(around 15 million),messi(18 million),mascherano(8 million),and Tevez(9 million).

Torres, Messi and Tevez all in the same club. If Everton could manage that then they would be Liverpool.

lol, thats true. But my point is that Everton needs to spend big and make shrewd signings instead of meagre loan and free deals if they want a European spot next season.

Err. we dont buy success! :p

Neither have I.Ive sold players for more than Ive spent.I still have 100 million plus in my finances and 15 million for transfers.I wouldnt call that a buy in.Ive bought around 2 youngsters(one from Newcastle and one from a South American club) for 10k and free and both are valued at around 2.5 million atm at 16 and 17 years respectively. All the big signings barring Torres only came in my second year when I won a few trophies.

EDIT:Anyway lets get back to your story.Im eager to see how and who you end up signing before the transfer period.

Reggina vs Everton
Friendly @ Oreste Granillo
20 July 2005.

The first thing I noticed when we stepped down from the team bus was the throng of public that had turned up for the friendly. The stadium had a 75% attendance of nearly 21,000. We had to put on our best show possible and I was desparate to end the losing streak.

I had opted for the same formation, I used in both the earlier matches and gave James Vaughan a start. I am fidling with the possibilities of using Tim Cahill as a winger. He has the pace and skill, so why not.

Reggina had opted for 4 - 4 - 2 diamond formation. They do have some good players. I especially wanted to gauge our back 4 in this match, as I have to make some important decisions soon.

The sweet flavour of victory...

Atlast! Victory. Things certainly are looking good. The boys played some brilliant football today.

We did have a lot of jittery moments as Alessandro Pistone was sent off for an absurd tackle on Choutos in the 11th minute. I had to pull out David Weir and replace him with the proven Left back Nuno Valente. 2 of the starting XI called back within quarter of an hour.

Stand in captain James Beattie immediately struck a neat volley past the Reggina 'keeper of a Cahill assist in the 18th minutes to put us up 1 - 0.

Tragedy struck again as Andy van der Meyde limped off again after tearing his hamstring. The docs have ruled him out of action for atleast a month. Damn! I had to replace him with Kevin Kilbane.

I brought on Phil Neville for McFadden at half time. We snapped in our second goal when Cahill latched onto a super pass from the excellent Nuno Valente and smacked a low volley past Pellizoli in the 70th minute.

Reggina did get one back when Choutos sold Ferrari the dummy and smacked in in the 84th minute.
Thats how it ended 2 - 1 to us. Reggina had more shots than us but couldn't convert them. But we were marginally better in the passes, crosses and headers won department.

Arteta, Beattie, Cahill and Nuno Valente were excellent today.

Our next match is on the 24th against Cagliari. We are looking forward to get in a few more wins on the run. I am particular about it!

The first major decision...

Well I had seen enough. I have been studying my defensive line up under the microscope and clearly felt it was an ageing fort. What had to be done, had to be done.

With the enormity of the situation hanging in balance, I called in skipper David Weir and told him that he will not be featuring in any of my plans for the season and with his accord, I would be open to release him on a free.

It did come of a huge shock to David, but I had written off any sentiments or harping on past performances. The player did understand and agreed to return to England immediately.

David Weir

Born: 10th May 1970
Nationality: Scotland
Height: 6'3
Weight: 13.12st
Birthplace: Falkirk
Transfer Date: 15/02/99
Debut: 1999 (v Middlesbrough at Goodison)

I thanked him for his services and proceeded to announce the news to the team and media. I handed the Captains arm abnd to James Beattie.

In replying to the media, I said

"David has been a fantastic player and an brilliant human on and off the field. It is with extreme sadness that we part company today with David. I would take this opportunity to thank David on behalf of Everton Football club and its fans for his outstanding service to the team. I wish him good luck for his future assignments."
So thats been done with. Letme worry about the other transfers now.

Good bold decision. Well being soft and considerate doesnt help in modern day football, and only the practical managers like Jose Mourinho, survive.

Did you actually release Weir on a free ingame?

Indeed! That was the prime reason for roping in Onyewu.

A bit harsh to kick out the captain but, he is getting old. Now the signing of Onyewu makes more sense.

Just a question Bala, who is the person inn your avatar?

Raiding Russia....

Though the team has started working as an unit, I still cannot find the flair factor in the team. The game is too stoical without any major creativity. I certainly need to think of inducting some creativity in my midfield.

I was discussing these with Alan when Nuno Valente popped in and said that his Portugese teammate Maniche was unsettled in Dinamo Moscow and was looking for pastures new.

Maniche had signed on at Dinamo for 7 Million pound sterling just 6 months back when he made his loan move from Chelsea permanent. Coming to think of it, I just might have found my man. Infact, we had already planned to rope in another great talent from Dinamo's local rivals CSKA Moscow. Now might just be the right time to make our move.

Me and Alan immediately called up Dinamo Moscow and tabled a bid of 3 Million for Maniche. We then called up CSKA Moscow and enquired the possibilities of signing attacking midfielder Daniel Carvalho.

We did have some positive news as the players themselves wanted to move away from the not so attractive Russian Premier League. On this news, myself and Alan boarded the plane to Moscow to discuss with the capital based clubs and the players.

Maniche & Daniel Carvalho
Just what the doc ordered for our midfield

Maniche is an amazing midfielder who personifies the creative midfielder role. Daniel Carvalho is a terrific prospect who can double up as an attacking midfielder and a forward aswell. He is severely left footed and is very pacy.

We did have our bids accepted as we settled at 4 Million each for both Maniche and Daniel Carvalho. I would call it an excellent deal as Maniche moved to Chelsea from Porto in a 11 Million move 18 months back.

All that remains is that a work permit has to be granted for Daniel Carvalho.

With the Russian mission successful, we returned back to Italy just a day before our friendly with Cagliari.

Two nice buys. Don't know much about Daniel Carvalharo. Maniche was important for Portugal at the World Cup so he is a great addition for the Evertonians.
