Academy Version 0.0.71 Discussion

Bit of a bug I've picked up on.

While my created teams are back all my logos have now disappeared. All the filenames are there on the selection list but the thumbnails are blank and, apart from the Big Ant logo, nothing can be placed. Trying to edit a logo gives the same blank list and then crashes the game when a logo is selected.

I can create new logos and then edit and place them but not my previous ones.

Gear is looking good though, as are the ongoing hair refinements. I just hope that eventually there will be an option to choose no batting helmet. Putting a helmet on Viv would be like painting a hoodie onto the Mona Lisa.

I think there was an issue if you went into practice mode and then the Academy logos disappeared. Reload the game and go into the Academy first and see if it works.

I'm only using the Academy at the moment. Practice doesn't seem to like my controller right now but I don't want to buy a new one yet since it works perfectly for everything else, including DBC14, and it may yet work fine in the final game.

And I've gone through all the integrity thing as well but no luck.

@BigAntStudios just found a small bug in this new update here in the video after advancing down the wicket you can see the last marker is left there and a small shudder / pause

hi guys

re pro mode in the latest update, can you please stop the head/view from moving at the last second before the ball gets bowled because:

1. its disconcerting; and
2. the top of the grill actually partially hides the ball.

I would prefer you revert to the DB14 version which was fixed and did NOT move before the ball was bowled.

If anything I would prefer the head/view actually drops. Batsmen (esp the master batsmen) tend to watch the ball onto the bat. They:

1. don't move their head a lot before the ball is bowled; and
2. don't keep their heads focused forward when the ball begins to disappear below their view.

We able to make this happen?

I noticed that when facing the bowling machine at the SCG...speeds were up around 140 MPH...I suspect it should have been KPH...but it looks like it picks up my MPH preference but records the KPH number.

Hats off big ant studios I was not playing the demo since last few updates and totally blown away now..

- Pull shots wow give whole new meaning to actually slogging on leg side.
- Wonderful feeling of timing the ball.
- Clearly this game is not just graphical update but brilliant work.

One question though how to come down the wicket ? I am using PS3 controller any help would be nice.

Hey aabretz, any chance you can post a video of some spin bowling on dusty pitches?
Sure can will be done in a few hours did you want me to bat against them or you want me to be bowling the spin? Also the video will be in the video part of this forum once its up

Should be a push down on the right stick same as xbox 360 control

Just played this recent update and.....wow! The pitch differences are great. Facing spin was such a joy with all the different pitch types. Felt unique on each type (i know there were differences in dbc14) but they seem much more obvious now. Much more verity which i'm all for! The more verity the better :) Loved how the ball skidded on on the dry & green pitch slight differences in turn on each :) Good luck on crumbly and worn... there's one with your name on it! :D Great fun! Ahhhh Really fired up now for DBC17. Well done everyone at BA doing great so far! Not just one step forward but many! :D Thank you

I'll echo what's been said, it's great that there is now a real discernible difference between the pitch types, it's going to be great fun flinging down bouncers on hard pitches or ragging it square on a dustbowl.

For the first time, using the marker, I felt like I could get the ball up high enough to play proper consistent hook shots and you can definitely now completely play 180 degrees on the leg side with drives, pulls, flicks and hooks. Shots on the offside are still lacking between point and mid off ( i don't know if the cover drive hasn't been fully implemented or what) but I do believe that by release we will have the ability to play fully 360 degrees. Great stuff.

Roll on next Friday!

On hair styles changing when you select certain hats and helmets, I'm gonna say that is probably by design to prevent hair clipping through.

Now that it seems pitch conditions play a large part in the bowling, it would be nice to be able to read a brief description of the pitch conditions before the toss takes place in a match.

It would just be something simple, maybe a line or two just explaining the pitch, whether its hard, soft, grassy, dusty etc.
