Academy Version 0.0.71 Discussion

One thing I noticed is that just using the analog sticks alone acts like a general shot modifier. The power feels in-between precision shot which seems effective for dropping the ball in front of fielders for quick singles and aggressive ground shots which seem to be more powerful. I dunno if its intentional but if it isn't it should be labeled as a general shot modifier. When using it feels almost like the batsmen is more just pushing/using timing , just hitting through the line, rather than aggressive ground strokes where it feels like the batsmen is more trying to climb into it. Like I said dunno if its intentional but using the analog sticks alone feels like a general shot modifier its pretty good for ones and twos I imagine going off how the ball behaves off the bat and the odd boundary depending on timing/placement.

Thats how it is in DBC 14. Time a shot perfectly and get a boundary, early or late it just pushes into the gap.

Yeah I get that , but dunno to me when ur play aggressive ground shots ( left trigger + right trigger) the ball travels abit differently to when you just use the analog sticks. Initially I thought just using analog sticks was just a alternative for playing aggressive ground shots but realised the ball travels abit differently off the bat.

For example if you try a off drive using both controls. For aggressive ground shots using the conventional controls (left trigger + right trigger) the batsmen's initial intention is to hit the ball into the ground and ball looks to skid abit quicker (flat) , as it should cause ur trying to hit a boundary.

Just using the analog sticks the way the ball comes off the bat is like the batsmen is just hitting through the line/ using timing, the ball naturally travels off the bat. Using left trigger + right trigger I noticed it looks like the batsmen is more trying to force it/ muscle it. Maybe they are both controls for aggressive ground shots, but to me there's a subtle difference to the behavior off the bat, that makes me wonder that perhaps using just the analog sticks is a different shot type?

I think you guys should add some sort of premeditated movement animation to the batsmen just before playing the shot so that it just blends well with the actual shot played currently it feels a bit odd when the batsmen just standing suddenly play a shot. LS can be used to determine the premeditated batsmen movement towards legside and offside by holding it in the 11oclock and 1 oclock direction for front foot and 4oclock and 7oclock for the backfoot movement.

We would if we could... you cannot blend from a generic movement to all shots/leaves that might be taken.

For that what I do personally is go wider one step and take in the stump stance when its being bowled, makes me feel like Hashim Amla...So back to stance and shot feels like a good flow..

1. I feel that cut short towards point needs to be tweaked a bit. Batsman looks like struggling to hit it. DBC14 cut shorts were good.
2. I am unable to hit the ball to deep extra cover please check once...thanks.
3. When LS DOWN + RS DOWN batsman suddenly pulls the bat instead of playing late cut in broadcast mode.

Thanks :)

We also have to keep in mind that nets are a lot easier to bat than the actual matches..We might be a pro in nets but matches are different story..

LT(Loft Button) + RB (Precision Shot button)..play it...nice flick in the air

Thanks for sharing that @Gaming Bittu ..Loving the shot, just need to go bit more distance as the SCG infield is really big..And would like BA to add the same combo to advance down mode as well would be great one...:thumbs

Videos folks... videos. Post some videos. Haven't seen any for the latest iteration (.71) :(

I would hope for BA to implement that when they decide to do a major overhaul of the engine. Probably after one more iteration? DBC21? The L stick can determine the initial Foot movement Animation and the R stick can do the shot animation.

But if there is one type of premeditation I would like to see now, it's the half step for spinners. But it doesn't need to be added to all batsman, something like the bowler exertion sound which is assigned only for some.

do we have any-other option in pitch types or conditions as at moment are already available in dbc14 so any new pitch types for dbc17?

To be fair the combinations available are certainly covering the bases. There wasnt anything wrong with the choices available in DB14. The problems was there wasn't enough difference between the way they played. Graphically there were differences. I haven't seen any videos of update 0.071 yet but from most of the discussion it seems BA have rectified this. Can't wait to get my laptop back Wednesday.
