Well, he's a truly amazing player of the 1950s. The guy played in an Indian side, which was considered to be one of the weakest teams of the contemporary era. In spite of this, when he retired, he held almost all the important records- most tests, most runs, and most hundreds, which stood for 16 long years, before being broken by Gavaskar. He is also the first Indian to score a double ton in Tests, and is one of the only two Indians to hit a century and take 5 wkts in an innings, in the same match. You can guess from this what type of a player he was! It's strange that nobody has picked him yet.

Sidhu was a brilliant and versatile batsman. He could defend all day long but could also demolish the bowlers for sixes. He was the master of playing spin and destroyed the likes of Murali with ease.
Now, some may argue that it's too early for Gambhir to be picked in an all-time draft, but I disagree. He's capable of being both aggressive and defensive when needed. He's greatly matured as a player over the last 2-3 years and is one of the world's premier batsmen. He's an extremely hard working cricketer and I know he will always give it his all. However, his perseverance is equally well complimented by natural talent. Once said that he would never be a successful test player, Gambhir has gone onto win the Arjuna Award 2008 and the ICC Test Player of the Year 2009. He is also a part of the ICC Test XI 2009. His innings in Napier is of his transformation into a world class cricketer that truly deserves to be in this team. Gambhir scored a match saving 137 in the second innings, facing over 430 balls, and lasting over 5 sessions.
With fast bowlers running low I had to take one with this pick. Zaheer is one of the top pace bowlers from India and one of the better ones from the sub continent. He has done better since making his return to the team a few years back and before he got injured was the leader of the pace attack.
