All-Time West Indies Test XI Draft

thumbnail_george_headley1.jpg

Pick: George Headley

Explanation: Widely regarded as one of the best batsmen of his generation, Headley was often referred to as 'The Black Bradman'. He played just 22 Tests for the West Indies, but he had a massive impact on the team and put in some magnificent performances. He averaged 60.83 in his Test career, with 10 hundreds and 5 fifties. His career stats would have been even more impressive if it wasn't for the gap of 9 years due to the War. He didn't have 1 poor series between his debut in 1929 and 1939. Definitely one of the great West Indian batsmen.

Super pick Dare, super, he was my next at # 9, congrats, the 6-7 tall man from Swetes Village Antigua, speaks for himself!!!

Yea it gives me a nice start to the team with Ambrose and Sir Viv.

But you have a nice start too, Brian Lara really speaks for him self and is a legend. Double centuries, triple centuries and a 400*, the man carried the batting for WI for 10 years or so. And then Holding who is underrated by many and I hate to admit it but sometimes even by me. On his day he was as deadly as any other bowler in the history of the game and still holds the best ever match figures by a WI bowler, Mikey is a legend.

Sir Everton Weekes

A fantastic batsmen, Sir Everton Weekes played test cricket for more then a decade and along the way he became one of the best batsmen to have played for the West Indies. His test career didn't get of to the best start but once he settled in he really began to churn out the runs. He went on to score 15 test 100's in just 48 test matches with a highest score of 207, and averaged a very high 58.61.

Clyde Walcott

The early version of Sir Viv, Walcott was a powerful man and over his 12 year career he dominated the bowling attacks he faced. He played 44 test and averaged 56.68 with 15 centuries and 14 half-centuries and a high score of 220. He gives me a strong 3-4 with Viv.

Sir Frank Worrell

Sir Frank has probably gone down as one of the greatest West Indian cricketers of all time. Sir Frank was a man of strong convictions, a brave man and it goes without saying, a great cricketer. During his 15 year international career Sir Frank Worrell went on to score nine test 100's and twenty two test 50's at an average of 49.5.
