I got Setanta for free for a year as part of an on demand package deal with BT. To be honest I don't watch it much (watched a few IPL games and the odd Premiership footie match). Would be a shame to see it go under. While it is true it is not that much competition for Sky, at least it IS competition. Monopolies are never a good thing and Choice is generally a good thing.

With regards to ESPN buying it, I'd guess they aren't interested in the Brand and it would probably become ESPN anyway, what they would be interested in are the rights to Premiership, Scottish footie, FA Cup, England Matches, the Golf etc.

As for setanta, won't be that bothered, their football coverage is pretty poor.

Any station that hires Tim Sherwood deserves to go under. I have Setanta and Craig Burley is woefully biased. He was having a go at us when we were drawing 1-1 with Newcastle and he shut up completely when we scored again.

I wish the BBC would bid for the FA Cup. BBC and Sky sharing the rights was much better than Setanta/ITV.

In my desperate attempts to see UFC 99 I am off to Lidl to pick up a satellite dish and box for 30 quid. It will pick up UFC 99 which will keep every1 happy on Saturday night, although it may be in German. Other good news is it appears I will also get an absolute ton of porn.

btw Kev have you tried cancelling with Setanta? Apparently it's just about impossible They will offer you a deal a hell of a lot lower than the normal rate, and they will just drop it to some ridiculous price. Then if you still want to cancel they never quite get round to it

Not really worth me cancelling it, I'm not paying for it. I had to pay for a viewing card (just under a tenner) but that's it. It's bundled as a free gift into a replay/on demand package I bought with BT vision. I guess they did a deal with BT to flog it on wholesale.

I'm not that bothered by all the pre/post match chat, I never watch it. I usually turn over at half time too. That goes for all football on any channel, so I'm not really bothered in the slightest by all that. I'm only interested in the 90 or so mins of play.

Just so long as I don't miss UFC 99 I couldn't care less. I'd be gutted if I miss Wandy vs Franklin, Cro Cop's return, the grudge match between Davis and Hardy, Kongo vs Velasquez and Swick vs Saunders. It's one heck of a card tbh, and UFC 100 will be even better. If we miss any UFC because of Setanta I'll be annoyed.

My last post was rubbish - Setanta are on the way out. On Friday they had the right to show the Premier League taken away from them and today the Scottish Premier League have done the same. Leaving Setanta with just the conference.
