Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

Oh dear, just as we are on the topic of no balls, that Woods No Ball segment was very interesting to say the least. At least 4 of those were no balls not called. While it may not seem much, but its 4 runs that AUs now dont have. Further if no balls are called regularly, then it upsets the bowlers rhythm. They have to adjust their run up, disturbs their flow, makes it easier for the batsmen.

Not calling no balls is a terrible downtrend in cricket.

Yupp Warner definitely has a weakness around his ribs area when angled in at the leg side. He might hit you a couple of times but he will eventually pop one up. He got out that way many times against India in the last test series. You just need someone who can get that extra bounce from the surface.

Just no application form the Aussies. Looks like the two teams are determined not to play a day's cricket on a Sunday.

This may just be the most crucial innings for clarke,

that's 4th consecutive 50 for warner in 2nd innings of every test match this series, both him and rogers haven't capitalized on their starts and luck.

I don't know what the Aussies will do at the end if this series, but they are an ageing side and will have to make changes. What do our Aussie friends think about this team for the next home series.

1. Warner
2. Bancroft
3. Burns
4. Smith
5. Ferguson
6. Marsh M
7. Nevill
8. Johnson
9. Starc
10. Pattinson
11. Lyon

Two months ago, I said on this site that NZ were a better test side than Australia. I got shot down. What do people think now?

I would say that the bowling attacks are pretty even. Perhaps Australia edge it as Lyon trumps their spinner. But the Kiwi batting is younger and a lot better at playing the moving ball in my opinion. Taylor and Williamson are brilliant players and people like Latham and Watling aren't too far behind. McCullum is just McCullum.

So Australia to enter another phase of rebuilding now. The good thing is that their bowling seems okay. Starc is the next big bowler and he is going to be world class. Johnson is not as effective anymore (hasn't been in the series anyway), but he will be in the mix. Hazlewood definitely has potential but he drifted away sort of, and I feel he may need to work in domestic cricket for a while after this.

The batting definitely needs a serious look at. Warner and Rogers are okay, and Smith will rebound from this. However that said, the entire middle order, including Clarke have their future in doubt.

Finally someone Mentioned Callum Ferguson @bigred :cheers

WTF Neville WTF

Congo England

15 years without winning a series in England (THE STORY CONTINUES)

Australia's bowlers are fine. They'll get better, I would have certainly chosen Pat Cummins over Hazlewood for this particular test. I think he's a massive talent. Hazlewood is a much 'safer' option. Australia's issues are all batting related. Apart from Warner and Smith, there's not much there. I for the life of me can't get the logic of picking Voges ahead of M Marsh. It's time to hand over the baton and Australia need to move past Clarke, Watson and Haddin in tests.

Just watching the highlights and it's very apparent that Moeen is a problem. He's a capable batsman but his bowling is good enough as a 2nd spinner at best. In the UAE we'll have to take 3 spinners and play two in each match. They'll have to bump Ali up the order somehow and bring in either Rashid or Tredwell. They are literally the only two anywhere near good enough to play international cricket.

So they have two options

1. Drop Lyth and let Ali open. In the UAE, where batting against the new ball might be the best time to score runs, it could just be the place to let someone like Ali go out there and have a dip.
2. Drop Buttler, give Bairstow the gloves and then Rashid effectively replaces Buttler.
3. Drop the 3rd seamer (Wood or Finn) and play 3 seamers and two spinners.

It's my least favourite option, but I think they'll go for option number 3.
