Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

...if true, seems like pretty bad news again as it means they are not confident about their product.

Well it's not true. Because you're just making stuff up now.

What did I make up? I am not stating any information or fact in my sentence, I just gave two sides of the same coin! You just quoted a part of the sentence, and based your reply on that (duh)!

Anyways, here is the whole sentence which you could not manage to quote:

Seeing the release date, 505 Games should start generating some hype as soon as possible, unless maybe they are not confident of sustaining the hype for long, which, if true, seems like pretty bad news again as it means they are not confident about their product.

Edit: Also if you note, whatever I am stating is from a neutral perspective. Maybe you are super hyped for this game based on whatever info is released and how (in)active their thread is and has been since a few weeks, but for most of the people out there, there is actually 'no' hype from this game. The official thread here as well as the official thread at indianvideogamer.com is a testament to that fact. That is why I am not able to understand the tactic of not creating hype for this game from the beginning of this month.

It's all speculation and nonsense bud.

They're a professional company full of talented artists, designers, computer programmers and promotional specialists. They know exactly what they're doing and no amount of concern from your imagination (or citing obscure online forums) is going to change anything...

Here's a handy graph to refer to when you start to worry about stuff like this...

I'm plenty "hyped" or excited for any cricket game. Because it's a cool thing to get one at all! ...if you're not... that's fine. But there's no point in just making up nonsense because you haven't got any screengrabs or whatever.

Just chill.

Am actually pretty surprised by their tactics and really hope it is because they have a product that will generate the hype in a month.
I think the hope is that the hype builds over the Ashes series - relive the Ashes and get ready for the next series is a strong marketing point.

I'm sure Chief would know what sort of portion of sales is from the first week vs over time.

The good thing is that once things are out then we will fairly quickly forget what came before - intensive promotion for the last few weeks before release might be a better spend of resources than short bursts over a long period of time.

Indeed considering how wrong people got their estimates of when we got screenshots of previous games in trying to give examples of supposedly how far out they were posted in the past that it's easily forgotten.

Whose making up any 'nonsense'? Whatever I wrote was based on my views and there 'were no facts or information' which I made up in that. And my views are based on the fact that 'is true', which is that 505 Games is keeping the marketing campaign for too late and based on that I made a logical statement. If you didnt like it, too bad, but that is your view which is as valid/invalid/nonsensical/madeup as mine. So its you who really needs to chill dude.

Lol its actually funny to see some people get so defensive as soon as you mention something about their 'hyped' game, even if its based on the general sentiments out there in the market.

Anyways, that is the last from me on our discussion as it is not really adding anything to this thread (except some additional posts :p)...you are free to carry it forward if you wish to !

Fact remains:

- You are hyped about this game and feel they are fine in their marketing
- I have nothing but good wishes for this game and want it to sell well, as really there is nothing better than having multiple cricket games. And based on that sentiment alone I do feel that 505 Games is keeping the marketing campaign for too late and hope it is because they have a solid product that can withstand this, and not the other way around (i.e. they not being confident on sustaining the hype)

Yeah...that sounds like a logical explanation. Hope it works for them :D

Atleast two of them wouldn't forget that for rest of their lives.

Does anyone else think all these ant avatar pics are kind of rubbing chiefs nose in it?! Anyone gonna have an ashes avatar pic?

No point marketing this early because we're already interested in the product, the rest of the consumers won't care until the month of the Ashes I guess. Market theory my ACE!!!

Chief just needs to do a jedi mind trick on everyone, these are not the screenshots\trailers you are looking for.:p
