Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

First person camera while batting. HOPE THAT HAPPENS.

Give all the shots in the book a keyboard shortcut(which can be edited),with the option to chose front or back foot.

Or

Make use of the arrow keys to move the bat complete 360 degree..to some how manage more types of shot and thus giving a players more control over batting

I watched that game, live, and there's not a single "Yorker" that was hit for six. You're imagining things. It's simply not possible and not something that is needed in ANY cricket game.

Guys, stop focusing on little, ridiculous details on the minutia of cricket and focus on the bigger picture regarding actual, meaningful, realistic features for a next-gen cricket game. Not whether or not one specific player in one specific scenario can hit a six or not!!

You completely misunderstood what I was trying to say, no probs. But some of you guys are repeating the slogan 'actual, meaningful, realistic gameplay' without knowing a thing about, what make the gameplay 'realistic and meaningful'.

Yorkers can somehow to be lifted for six if you get deep back into the crease and hit it over long on. It can not be cut off the backfoot for six  as was the case in ic 2010.

one more suggestton which make ur game real is bowler like kallis , albie morkel and irfaan pathaan , wicketkepper move to bhind the wicket and some time they take some distance behind wicket ,second is wicketkepper can change their helmet and cap as per requirement same for batsmen if batsmen played against spinner in sub continent wear only cap in middle over:)

Having avoided PC pretty much all winter, I was so stoked to log on and find this little gem. I have high hopes for the game, after playing and loving IC10. I do realise that officially the code is being written from scratch, but I'm sure they'll just import quite a bit over. For a start, I was wondering whether online has been fixed (ie. you can play more than 3 overs and actually hit boundaries?) I know the AI is probably still under heavy construction, but I would really like to be able to play a test match on hard and get a close result without having to boost my opponents stats ridiculously. I would also like to know whether batsmen actually take the length of the ball in to consideration when playing a short, fielders are a little more athletic than dwayne leverock, spinners aren't ridiculously OP on the first day of a test, bowling actions look decent and bumble is boring as sh*t. Just a few questions eh? I am actually so pumped for the game XD

Y...some of you guys are repeating the slogan 'actual, meaningful, realistic gameplay' without knowing a thing about, what make the gameplay 'realistic and meaningful'.

Translation: Lets have a cricket game with Helicopter Shots, UDRS and Man of the Match, because that's what cricket games need. Gimmicks.

I know exactly what makes gameplay realistic and meaningful, this isn't a WWE wrestling game where you need cutesy stuff to sell it. This is a once in a generation opportunity to make a really good cricket game after three years of mediocre, but fun, arcade cricket games, lets not get bogged down by silly stuff like the kind you're describing, which is exactly the opposite of what the majority of true cricket/gaming fans want.

Hey Chief,
Great to see a Cricket Game WIP finally after a long time. But , if a cricet game has to be made, it has to be made excellently.
I have a few questions:
1. Will we be able to see different kinds of bowling actions(run-ups)? For eg. Harbhajan Singh and R.Ashwin are both offspinners with different actions.
2. Like in AC-09 will we get tutorials to play the strokes, or will there be a nets mode?
3. DRS? I think it has become such an integral part and would add a nice taste of reality to the game
4. Will the batsmen bat according to the situations. Will there be rain-washed games decided on D/L? Will there be a night-watchman if a wicket falls close to the end of day' s play. These tweaks will make the game simply amazing.
5. New shots like the switch-hit, or the Dilscoop, will we get to see them. Thanks.
6 Lastly, licenses? Will we get to see player-likeliness or official jerseys? Or only restricted to England and Australia?
7. Having different squads by default for ODI, T20 and Tests(think it was there in AC09)

Lol... misunderstanding again.... Chief said it was impossible to hit six on a perfect yorker ball. According to this in a t20 game, if the batting side need 6 from 1 ball and the bowler managed to get a perfect yorker, then the game is over for batsman because he can't do anything since the game didn't allow him to score a 6 on that ball. What I was trying to say to Chief was, there is a category of batsman called Power hitters who can hit any ball for six with pure timing and power(McCullum, Gayle,Pollard, Ross Taylor, Yousuf Pathan, Afridi, Warner, Watson, good old Klusener etc..). Don't make it impossible to hit six on a yorker ball, just make it very hard using a very narrow timing window.

Ooh, MOTM is interesting. I suspect that it wouldn't be all that accurate all the time, as there are so many factors involved. I mean, the easy stats like runs/wickets would be straightforwards, but can you teach the game to understand all the variables involved I wonder - Does an important catch of a dangerous batsman, for example, overrule a 50 scored by an opener (that you would essentially EXPECT him to score, as that's his job)... SO many factors to take into consideration... But lots to think about: thanks!

Team trophy cabinet is not so difficult... I think this is kind of reflected by your achievements/trophies, but I see where you're coming from. Will give that some thought.

Best thing to do here imo is use what from the pavilion have for their motm. its a complex system, but it's the most accurately rewarding system Ive seen

1. Will there be misfields/overthrows/ (Very occasional)? I am assuming occasional dropped catches would be there

2. Will we have a option to get the keeper standing up to medium pacers?

3. This one is very important. You mentioned that you will be using motion capture for shots etc. Now in case of a straight drive, will there be just one motion capture or more than one, so that we have some variety. Say one is triggered when we use the straight drive when the ball is pitched on middle stump and one when the ball is pitched on off stump ( The difference being the position of the front foot)

4. AI will bowl according to the field? and also set fields according to the match condition?

5. The perfect timing to be dependent on pitch condition ( slow/fast), player form, player confidence?

There's a better way. Just make yorkers tough to bowl, infact make it incredibly tough to bowl a perfect yorker.

Lol, a few category of batsmen can hit any ball for six with pure timing and power? I can do that, anybody can do it if you get the perfect timing and power. But you won't get that on a yorker.

@Chief
Is there any chance of increment in the budget since BigAnt studios have step as a competitor? (Also they seems to have an upper hand with the inclusion of career mode and robust online play)

Well after reading a lot of posts above regarding yorker and sixes, i must say Chief gave the right explanation and many havent understood it atall.
By theory, a yorker is a ball that lands right at your foot or anywhere along that length.
Now considering the power hitting and slogfests you guys have been talking about, will anyone please tell me which of those balls actually 'landed' at foot's length?
They were either low full tosses(Mcullum's scoops) as the batman moves forward or the batsman moves backward and it becomes a half volley(Helicopter shot sixes).
So im of the opinion a yorker is a yorker only with respect to the batsman's position and not a fixed point on the pitch. Hence, when a ball ends up being a yorker its impossible to loft it up into the air...it simply defies physics. I guess this was what Chief tried to say too.
Cheers.

Meanwhile i have a question, Do different players have different heights?
