Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Straight driving. Usually on aggressive shots but not always.

Keep in mind I am playing Career Mode, so the skill level of my batsman is probably lower than star players you are using.

Makes sense, though I tried playing with Bangladesh as a test and just not getting any edges :noway

I use classic controls and I'm getting edges whilst batting all over the place, from straight drives, on drives, all the cover drive variations, backfoot on drive and straight drive, even leg glances from quicks and spinners...my problem is when I bowl I don't get ANY edges for about 120 overs and in ODI's it seems it and miss.

I'm using standard controls and I have plenty of edges, both bowling and batting. Some go to hands, some find the gaps. Some go to the keeper, some to slip. I've had a few to the keeper I never heard or saw as well, proper feathers.

I've had them off aggressive shots, drives and cuts. Also seen
A few off defensive shots as well, they're the best.

Had a doozy bowling to Morkel, where he planted his bat with a defensive shot, head over his front foot, on off stump, text book, only for the ball to sneak the edge and fly to 2nd slip. Classic test match dismissal.

Not sure if bowling speed matters, but I've got that modifier so the fast medium guys are low to mid 80s with their stock ball, and Starc is low 90s in mph.

Are you guys using downlosded teams? All mine are OOB and wonder if my teams are skilled higher

Or are you both playing career with new unskilled batsman etc?

At the moment I'm playing a career, controlling the whole team as England with a created batter at #5. Also playing against Australia right now, so both OOB.

My practice test matches have mainly been with "find best" downloaded teams, India, South Africa, New Zealand, generally vs me as England.

There's a couple of nice edges in the Gameplay thread that I posted when I played England vs NZ. One was me batting, one was me bowling.

Ok cheers can only conclude then my batting skills have exponentially increased in very short space of time :p

Hard to know, but why not? :)

It's like the point that has been made in here many times. There's little consistency to be found when so many people play in different ways, different formats, different teams, different styles, different tactics. I'm happy to share the settings I've got, but nothing to say they're gonna produce anything for anyone but me!

That's where I don't think Big Ant are doing themselves any favours; having so many difficulty levels and allowing people to tweak the game with the modifiers. Others might disagree. But I think, for a small developer, and such a complex sport (three forms of one sport in fact), it'd make a lot more sense to having nothing but Amateur, Pro, Veteran and Legend that incorporates every differing aspect of difficulty and clear explanations of the differences. It seems the way it's set up at the moment it can only make it more difficult to test, tweak and perfect a game when there's so many variations open.

I officially say this game is Shite!!! Big Ant sucks---the next update will be jan 2020 kiss mi teeth...They had one job to do and failed

Could also say the same for the academy everyone downloading different teams potentially. Having all sorts of different effects. I'm not saying the academy is bad but it adds much more variables with ^ aswell.

Also on default sliders i might just be talking utter S*** but it feels very one paced. Very rarely think (that was unplayable.) More of I got myself out. With sliders how i have it 75-85 on speed. I genuinely get done for pace at times. It mixes it up nicely and not so much repetitive timing.

Hi, i m also using standard controls. Are you able to play the balls wide outside off stump or wide leg stump all the time. Sometimes player doesnt play proper animation and miss the ball even when shot timing and shot choice are perfect. Because of this i m getting bowled for left arm spinners when the ball pitches legside. The player plays straight drive when i try to play towards square leg and gets bowled.
Does this happen to you?
I m not sure whether it happens only for standard controls as there is no control for moving foot in standard controls when playing the shot.

I said it out of box game should have tried and tested gameplay QA so we don't have to keep looking for that sweet spot

Well just altered all Australia fielders catching ability to zero, then started playing 6 hit shots and every catch was taken no problem

Altered accuracy stats for all fielders to zero and then wk and close in fielders all hit stumps direct. Boundary riders never throw any wides

Conclusion, catching/accuracy stats on legend appear to be ignored..?
