Big Ant need to stop chasing the licenses.
I've seen the argument on here that Ashes Cricket 17's post-release is hampered by the mess that is AO Tennis. And that they are a small studio that cannot spread their resources like others. Simple, don't bring out two unfinished games in quick succession. Who else would bring out two official games which are still not finished after their respective IPs have ended?
The Ashes game had to most likely be release during the most recent Ashes series. An Aus developer would be unlikely to base an Ashes game in England for the next series. In terms of modelling stadia and domestic marketing is easier than global marketing. Therefore, lets assume this release is set in stone.
However, the Aus Open deal should not have aimed to release a game this year. If they cannot cope with two games it should have been pushed to next year, or the license should not have been accepted.
DBC14 was a solid first entry into a largely untapped sport. DBC17 was an improvement but when the same issues remained and future ones arose, I lost faith. It was not supported post-release most likely because of the upcoming Ashes game.
I also sense some form of Stockholm Syndrome on this forum; with many happy to accept failings because no one else is making a cricket game. This is the third in the series and the game is a skeleton of an actual game without working AI. The opposition still don't know how to set a field, like maybe using the whole allocated number of fielders outside the inner ring.
They will have future games, so the dilemma for BA would be to commit to their current games or divert resources to the future. Drastic (and unlikely) improvements in AC17 now would not see a sudden rise in game sales. The selling period for this game is all but over. They are only patching it now in order for the current player base to be attracted to future releases.
Also, the cricket games cannot be fixed with patches. There needs to be root and branch change in the whole gameplay. Pegging the run rate 3.50 is a joke and just shows that they cut corners to make a game look presentable without having a working interior.
I opened a thread here that the marketing of unique animations was very strange. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors with BA advertising face scans and unique animations, and not marketing the actual gameplay. For Example, why are they bringing out stadium creators when their take on the sport is inherently flawed. Oh look what has just released for AO Tennis.
Edit
There are also arguments shot down on here because the poster is not writing in their first language. Whilst there are some crazies on here, there are definite undertones of bullying and belittling.
If someone posts a thought, don't just patronise them by correcting their spelling and grammar.
