Asia Cup 2023

Please tell me this is sarcasm and not an earnest opinion.
Nepal could have done it- would have been good for them. The ACC should perhaps host it in Emerging nations in the future.

As for Afghanistan, I guess the BCCI might have helped them host it any day instead of Pakistan:grinning:

I’m genuinely not sure what you’re getting at here, if the rationale is that “every team other than India on this planet has a settled lineup and ours is a enigmatic puzzle that can’t be decoded” then there’s not much of a discussion to be had. I could easily list five issues with the current NZ team ranging from Kane’s availability to the lack of a replacement for their main spin all-rounder but you’d still call their team as a settled one. Their last ODI series before the WC which will be in subcontinental conditions will not even feature most of their main XI FFS, if India did that you’d be calling for the heads of everyone in the BCCI starting from the security guard.
The difference between those other teams and India being that India have been chopping and changing ever since Dravid took over.

I'd still call the Kiwis as settled on account of the fact that they know their positions and the roles they will be playing. We don't even know our starting spinners and wicket keeper.
Neesham himself is not even on a central contract and has missed multiple games in the last year because he was playing in franchise leagues. The only reason he’s even had two ODIs this year was because no IPL team bothered to pick him up, if it wasn’t for that then his last ODI would have been just two months after Bumrah’s last one prior to the Asia Cup.
Neesham wasn't injured, right? He has been playing in leagues and has some game time. What has Bumrah done apart from staying at home and bowling 5 overs a day?
I’m still not sure what your plan should have been with Bumrah in this instance, should he have skipped out on this tournament entirely? Then you’d have been questioning why he was granted entry into the series versus Australia without any sort of practice before the WC. What next, not pick Bumrah for the WC whilst he twiddles his thumbs at home as we get smashed by bowling Umran or Thakur?
Why are we considering Bumrah a permanent starter in the XI? Have we forgotten that we fared badly when we brought injury returns to our squad for the WT20?

A lone Bumrah isn't going to magically take 5 wickets every game. Granted we don't have a domestic calendar right away, but the BCCI could have arranged a Challengers trophy to figure out the in form guys
Now who is this number nine that got promoted to four? If you’re talking about Axar he’s seen as a number seven. I’ve even got an example for another team doing what you said would be never be done, Australia randomly promoted Starc in an ODI against us and threw the game. I don’t even think half of the Aussie fans would remember this happening if you were to ask them now.
Going word for word won't help. You get the drift though. Promoting Patel based on the whims and fancies of Dravid wouldn't help. I do not remember the Aussie game in question however am sure that Australia didn't have 5 captains prior to that game. Neither do I remember them resting Warner, Clarke ,Watson together for a particular game. Read: settled XI
If I’m right Pakistan have played around half the number of ODIs we have. It’s easier to have a settled lineup in that case. It’s also easier to provide an impression of the same when there’s a clear depth in quality between the bench and the main team. Pakistan look strong because they have good individuals in the side, the West Indian side hasn’t really changed much over the last year or so and yet they didn’t qualify for the WC did they? By your logic England shouldn’t play their main opener, their number three and number four because they’ve barely played ODIs recently. If you suggest this to any English fan you’ll be laughed at rightfully.
I don't buy your argument of having lesser games and a settled line up. Pakistan have applied themselves well and done a great job here. WI lack skills and he motivation to even play,so let's forget them.

As for England, again their experimentations haven't been on par with what India has done. Soz I will not get drawn into that.
You’ve got an unhealthy obsession with certain players mate… to the point where you’ve abandoned reason and wonder if they’ll be selected if the team loses without them in it… that literally means they were missed bay and that they’d be selected at the next earliest opportunity.

Can’t think of a more accurate description. :D
My grouse being-how can you simply select someone over another player who has been in good form? KL v Ishan is a no brainer in favour of the latter. KL's stats are good, but they are a year old. Bumrah- again, he won't set the stage on fire. Obsessing over these big names won't help us.

Well its going to rain anyway lol, might as well cancel this Asia cup
Should do it, It's a glorified Pak v Ind series disguised as the Asia Cup!

Wait for some time. They will release another one from Karachi where a PCB official could be heard abusing the shit out of Jay Shah in the background. Subsequently, Binny and Shukla will give a press conference at the border and state "We cannot have anyone abuse our Supreme Leader. This was what we feared before clearing Pakistan as the hosts for the Asia Cup" :laughter:
