Asia Cup March 2011/12

M not sure what Gambhir and Kohli were thinking while taking the powerplay, they hardly took any risk and just wasted it, if they were too concerned about reaching their personal milestones and didn't want to take any risks, then they must have not used the powerplay at all. Those 5 overs can prove to be the difference for India, good centuries by both of them but could have scored more.

Yeah. When Gambhir was out we should have been some 20-25 runs more considering the fact that we were one down for most part of the innings. Add to it both didnt even have a SR of 100+.

Anyway, there goes Dilshan....:thumbs

In a score of 41, Praveen himself has contributed 29 :rolleyes

India has to get wickets. These 2 are making it look very easy out there.

Good win for India. Ashwin and Pathan had a very good game. Vinay bowled well in last spell. Praveen is still a worry though. After he came back from injury, his line and length is not good at all.

Virat, Gambhir, Dhoni did well in the batting.

Loving the partnership between the new and the old vice-captain. Who will reach the 100 first, Gambhir or Kohli?

BTW just realized that Kohli will be having back to back tons if he reaches the 100. Just 3 more runs needed.

Viru was our last vice captain.

Anyways, great centuries from both and a comprehensive win that was made to look easier than it actually was. Those 2 wkts by Ashwin in the first over of the batting power play completely turned things around. Both Pathan and Ashwin bowled excellently well. Ashwin is still our best bet in the subcontinent. Hope he charts the same path as Kumble and builds on his subcontinent success and starts performing overseas.

Great comeback from Pathan. But having three medium fast bowlers (Irfan, Praveen and Vinay) with no variety in pace is just bad. They could have taken Dinda for Praveen. Anyways doesnt matter as we won the game over the tournament favorites, SL.

Same thing was said by Dhoni in Australia too. Praveen looks to have lost it after he picked up that injury. We should try Dinda next game.

Virat is a superb player, a very bright prospect for World Cricket, If he remains consistent, He has to build on his talent and score runs consistently in future. Nice Addition

as far as ODIs go, kohli is ridiculous.

he's 23, and yet his record is comparable with some of the best players ever. He'd already walk in to quite a few teams all-time ODI XI.

even tendulkar only managed 11 tons before he turned 24. kohli is on 10 and has until november to reach that, and he's done it in a lot less games and at a better average.

Hmm so I rememer hearing at the start of the Commonwealth Bank Series that Jayawardene was batting at #5 to try and separate himself from Sanga a bit and give Chandimal a shot at #4. It seems now that Jayawardene is opening, SL have again got themselves into the 2 out all out possibility. Jaya and Sanga will now bat together a lot. What can they do? Move Sanga down to #4? Find another opener instead of Jayawardene? Just hope that guys like Chandimal and Mathews do the job?

That was Dilshans plan of separating the two. Jayawardene likes to open the batting as it gives him more time in the middle

but jaya is also a great finisher of innings, and a great accumulator in the middle.

in fact sri lanka's problem is always that sangakkara and jayawardene are the best at any given batting job in the line up.
