Story Australia In Bangladesh (ICC06) END OF THE GAME

untitled1ib6.jpg

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, i am Mark Nicholas and you have joined us for the 3rd One Day International between Australia and Bangladesh. We are bought to you from Dharka for this contest. Now we have seen just 2 days ago, that Bangladesh upset the Aussies and came out with a win in the 2nd One Day International. Will the results be the same as today, we will have to wait and see what turns out to be, or will the Aussies come back and show the rest of the world, they are the real deal.
A few players to watch out for today is Matthew Hayden foer the Aussies. He has been in great form this year so far, has been averaging 53 with the bat, in the Tests and One Day matches against Bangladesh, so Bangladeshwh will want to contain him down to a small total. Also Michael Clarke, who has been arguably, Australia's best player in this series, would want to have another good day to get his team over the line. He has been averaging 63 with the bat in thieses 2 matches so far. Clarke has also taken 2 wickets in the 2 matches.

The team selection for Australia has not changed from last match. Suprised that Cameron White and Mitchell Johnson have both been kept out of this match, as both men have been in good form in the State League. But Australia has faith in their 11 players, and think they can get over the line.

Like we said earlier, Bangladesh have won the last match between theses 2 teams, by 8 wickets. It has been their 1st win against Australia in this series, so they are looking to make it 2 on the trot, while Australia would like to win this match, and get back the bragging rights that they are the most dominant team in the compettion. Before that Australia has beaten Bangladesh by 27 runs, 3 wickets and 6 wickets in the last 3 outtings.

The weather here at the moment is rather good for cricket. It is very cludy out here at tthe moment, but i doubt it would trouble the match, as i dont think the rain will hit the ground, it should follow the same pattern and miss the ground completely. The pitch is perfect, which is bad news for the pace bowlers. It is a very poor pitch for pace bowlers, as they wont get much bounce. But some good news for the spin bolwlers, as there is a slight turn of the ball when bowling into right handers.

And well we are nearly ready for the start of the match, and here come Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden coming onto the ground, so that means Australia have won the toss and have elected to bat 1st.

Australia has again struggled to post a big score against Bangladesh in the 3rd one Day International. Australia could only manage157 against Bangladesh this time around. Matthew Hayden led the way for Australia again making 80 being not out, while his partner, Adam Gilchrist played well as he made 45. Only the 1 wicket was taken against Australia, but the Bangladesh bowlers bowled really well and didnt let the Aussies get away from them. Bangladesh needs 158 runs to win their 2nd match in a row against Australia, and they need to do it with a run rate of 3.2 per over.

Australia had their big names in the start again. Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist have been playing alot of cricket lately, and would be getting pretty tired from playing so many matches. But that didnt stop Hayden and Gilchrist this afternoon. Adam Gilchrist was the only wicket that was taken for the day. Gilchrist made a respectable 45 from 67 balls, hitting 2 boundaries, while his parter in crime, Matty Hayden was brilliant for the Aussies. The left hander played some wonderful shots. Hayden like we said, was not out at the end of the day. Hayden made 80 runs which has been one of his bests for the Series. Hayden played 182 balls, and hitting 7 boundaries with only the 1 six. Hayden looked dominant out in the middle, and the 34 year old seems to be getting back into some great form.
Ricky Ponting came into the crease when Gilchrist went, Ponting who hasnt been given much game time as Hayden and Gilchrist has taken up most of the overs, came out and played some good cricket. Ponting made only 28 runs from the remaining overs, played 53 balls, but he did hit 4 boundaries, so things looked good for Australia at the end of the 50 overs.

Bangladesh bowlers really bowled well this afternoon against the Australia batting order. 5 players we're used by Bangladesh to fill the 50 overs, but with only 1 player taking a wicket, it seems that Bangladesh would need to work on their bowling and get some wickets on hand. Although, Bangladesh didnt let Australia post a big score by bowling some good overs from their bowlers. 4 of the 50 overs were Maiden overs, so some good things came from the bowling attack today. Salahuddin was the wicket taker, of Gilchrist. Slahuddin clean bowled Gilchrist around the 35th over mark which got the parternship of 80+ broken. All bowlers were good in their own way, But Islam, the spinner was their most expensive bowler for the afternoon, bowling 10 overs, and giving away 46 runs.

Who was the England wicketkeeper during the one day series against Australia in 1989?

It was a bit tough question ;) The answer is Steve Rhodes! :) Russel replaced him in tests in same series.
