should hayden be dropped also? his done worse than martyn?

Hayden's made loads of hundreds since the Ashes. I'm saying Martyn needs ot consistent to stay in the team, he can't just live on 1 hundred.

If they bowl their quicks tomorrow for about 1/2 hr - 40 mins i'd reckon Gilly & Ponting can cope with that and bring down the target but if they go for spin right from start it'll be interesting. Still back Australia to win, but i think Bangladesh will feel it's nothing short of robbery.

Not after 3 test and Clark wasn't even a fill in so no way in hell the selectors could have dropped him. You can't assume hes going to have a crap one of the flat pitches.

Yeh, I know but there might have been but then who else would they drop after this test?

No one, why change a winning combo?
There was one stop open by Kasper and Langer's batting spot.

I agree. Martyn seems to get hundreds when his spot is in doubt, and doesn't really cash in on his form by stacking on the runs a la Hayden (this can be seen by the fact Martyn has never gotten a Test 200)

Warney might end up making the decision a whole lot easier for everyone. Not sure if they really want to play him if he's got any little niggles.

Martyn isnt really the type of player that you associate reliability with.
94 needed, hmmm u would have to back Australia.

cullen will probably play instead of warne in the 2nd test.

But say we lose 3 wickets for 20 runs and end up winning by 1-2 wickets...

Not at all...Rafique on fire! Last 2 recognised batsman! Australia playing for respect! Bangledesh playing for nothing besides world glory! :p

The selectors won't make massive changes. But if we were resting players Lee and Warne would be the 2 being rested with Bracken and Cullen/Symonds coming in.

not bracken please :upray

I think the opposite if bangladesh want to win they need to bowl there quicks for the first 30-40mins.

If the aussies continue to bat smart tomorrow the spinners shouldnt be a problem as they can get to the pitch of the ball and negate the low bounce and spin.

They cant do much about the quickies when there on target except block, if they try to play shots the low bounce will see them get out.

If 1 wicket falls quickly tomorrow its game on.
If Aus get 20 + runs before a wicket falls it should be in the bag.

Sure Martyn helped us win the last match but so did Hussey.
Why was Martyn doing it with ease and never looking troubled out there but as soon as he got his 100 he struggled and got himself out,why couldnt he finish the job.
Also how many times has Martyn failed when we needed him compared to how many times hes actually produced the goods and helped save us.
He fails more often when needed.
Look at all his crap scores before he finally got that century.

He gets out far too cheaply too often then when his heads on the chopping block he finally does something with the bat.
Then he goes back to failing.

Im still disgraced by this performance no matter what the result is.
We should have made the hard decisions after the last ashes and brang in some new talent.

Cosgrove,Jaques,Clarke and even Katich Atleast 1 maybe 2 of these guys should be in the team permanently, so that we have young guys ready to take over form the retirees.
As it is now all our batsmen are going to retire about the same time and we will need to replace them with guys untested at this level.
Our batting lineup in about 2 years time will be something like this
Jaques,Hussey,Ponting,Cosgrove,Clarke,Katich,new Wicket Keeper.
Because our selectors have been so afraid to blood new talent at the expense of an older player.
Those guys are going to need to walk straight into the team and perform straight away.

and im not sure Martyn has the footwork to be able to handle the likes of Flintoff and co. in the ashes.

They wont get as much swing over here, more bounce than anything. Still Hodge is the only other one we could really put in that spot and his footwork is just as bad if not worse (bowled by a 110km medium pacer who tweaked it the tiniest amount and he played all around it)

I have a really uneasy feeling about tomorrow. The game is really 50/50 with the two quick wickets at the end. Clark gave his away with a rash shot while Marto was just beaten by a good ball. One side of me tells me that Gilly and Punter will play sensibly and get us home comfortably while the other worries that they will both go early and the tail will collapse. I suppose Lee, Dizzy and Warne could all string together 90+ runs if they were focused.
