This match is heading towards a classic. 95 runs to win on a nightmare pitch, 2 batsmen who are arguably the finest in modern cricket at strike with 5 bowlers to come, and a 37 year old spinner who just refuses to say die. It should be a cracker, lets hope the Bangladeshis don't dissapoint. :upray

Marty seems to attract the best in left arm spinners, Giles in the Ashes, and twice to Rafique here...
Bangladesh were dissapointing again in the second innings. They need to work on it, but this is looking like a possible win for Bangla. 1 man is standing in their way, Ponting. Get him out early tommorow, and keep Gilly off strike. Impossible is nothing.

This partnership of Ponting and Gilchrist will be crucial, since after that only bowlers are left. But I think Australia will make it.

Impossible is nothing - well I would have backed that if there was some other team involved (including England). But the Aussies know how to win games more than anyone else. I reckon they'll make easy work of the remaining runs.

Also I dont believe Ponting is the only threat. Gilchrist has saved Australia so many times in the past, and mostly he has done with the tailenders.

You cant take the likes of Brett Lee, Shane Warne and Jason Gillespie lightly. Even if Australia lose Ponting and Gilchrist early tomorrow, these three can still win the game. Just ask the Englishmen and the Proteas.

Ponting and Gilchrist must stick in there. Aus can't afford to lose after starting so nicely. An exciting day of cricket follows tommorow. To me , Aus still have 94% win chance.

You can't trust on them , can you? They are tailenders after all.

Shane Warne and Brett Lee are no walkovers. Yu can't just bowl a yorker and expect to get them out, you have to work. On the otherhand, MacGill and Clark can be classed as real tailenders.

But Gilly and Ricky need to take their score to -50 from winning target. Then Warne and Lee can help Aus winning.

Australia will most likely win this one but it has been truly a great test match and the Bangladeshis are starting to show their talent and enthusiasm for test match cricket against who better than the world champions themselves. If this Bangla team can build up on the current form they might be dangerous opponents in the upcomming worldcup.

Yes i totally agree. Bangladesh are now probably on a level par with West Indies now.

I can neither agree nor disagree with that. WI is in doldrums, but they still have that firepower. Bangladesh do not have that firepower, but they are raising their game.

Aus. should win this easily.

Forget who wins the match--Bangladesh stretched Australia to a 5th day! Many stronger nations around the world cannot do that. I think the Australians will win this one--either strongly with Ponting and Gilchrist knocking off the runs, or softly with a few wickets falling, but the tailenders managing to get them there.

It has been a great performance by Bangladesh and Dav Whatmore would be proud of his young charges. Things can only get better from here, because most of the Bangla cricketers are still young. As they play the game longer, hopefully they will become more intelligent (rather than lazy) and I foresee a few 'upsets' coming up in the World Cup.

It was a good game apart from that second innings from bangla which changed everything...they should have made 210+ in that innings to make it more interseting and hard for the aussies...

Bangladesh just can't be equated with West Indies at any given time. They will be a strong contender for the wc2007 especially in home conditions.

I'm saying that Bangladesh would have a good chance to beat WI in test's and ODI's now, as Bangla are rising and WI sinking.

The main thing for Bangladesh is that they have now gained that little bit more experience being in this position. They must now push on, and look to find themselves in winning positions against more test sides. As they do, the experience of turning winning positions into wins will grow and so will their stature as a side.

What they mustn't do however is wait another few years to find themselves in such a strong position as happened after the India test.

I think if they played the Windies at home in their next series they would stand a good chance, on a turning track their spinners could cause the majority of the Windies lineup problems, whilst the Windies quick bowlers are certainly not of the same class as Lee or Gillespie, nor do they own a quality spin bowler like a MacGill or Warne. Would be an interesting series.
