This is not going to sink in for a while. I feel physically sick. What a game. They were joking on the radio at the start of play that if it got down to 20 or so runs to win, it would be very tense. I don't think anyone genuinely believed itwould end like this.

Great performances from both sides, but my man of the match would be Brett Lee. I've always thought he was over-rated. Quick, but too much psuedo-aggression. But the last 2 days, with his bowling and today with one of the best, most gutsy rear guard batting displays I have ever seen. :hpraise

Old Trafford is going to be a cracker. Roll on Thursday.

Yayyyy I can go to work tomorrow in Melbourne and give some of these aussies in the office who have been giving me sooo much stick it all back.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

the_gas, you cant say england were great they let kasper and lee get 60 something run partnership plus shane warne, they were crap.

Hardly crap mate! Look at the result. ENGLAND WON! As patriotic as we all are, you don't beat the best team in the world by being crap!

fishbowlman? if england were so 'great' how come they struggled to bowl at number 9 10 and 11?!?!?

Bloody top match, England deserved to win it no question. Australia only up to standard in one session. Today's conditions looked beautiful for batting much like day one.

Really proud of Warnie and Bing though. Looked bad from the start losing our best player, and the top order really did play loosely , but those two guys kept us in the game.

Hopefully Australia can start to up their production as the Test series progresses much like they did in the ODIs.

Bring on Thursday! MacGilla in for Kaspa on the cards.

I never said they were 'great'. I said that we're not crap. There's a big difference. After all, we managed to get into a position where 100 or so was added by the last 3 and STILL won the game. Sometimes you get the tail out cheaply, and sometimes they score big. We managed 50 for our last wicket too.

Yes this sets up the rest of the series well. This win will do England's confidence a great deal of good though, as they now know that they can beat this otherwise invincible Australian test team.

Absolutely. Had we lost this we would really have struggled to get back up for Thursday. Also, its been several years when we've beaten Australia when it matters - i.e. when the series is still alive. The pressure on getting over that hurdle must have been enormous!
