Australia in India

Big 3 should play tests only.

Remember that Tendulkar was our top run scorer in the England ODI series, Ganguly our top ODI scorer in 2007 and Dravid has just come off captaincy, they have played their part in ODIs in the past. If the three would to be dropped, India would go through a transition period which may potentially result in horrendous losses of series and then fickle Indian fans (not calling all Indian fans fickle, but many are) will be calling for their return. Check the ODI averages of those who may replace them, they are not that good nor are even the List A averages at what is a very low level.

Somebody listen to me, they need to be phased out, rest some games, play others whilst playing.

India should thank there lucky stars. They were on the verge of being annilated.

How can you be so sure of the result of a game which had 47 overs still to be bowled and 5 good batsmen still left for India ?
Australia, if Iam not wrong have lost more times defending 300+ (even 400+ once) in recent times than any other side in World Cricket.

Tendulkar is definitely still worth having around. Ganguly is in good form, but for my mind his style simply doesn't cut it in ODIs any more. I think his medium pace is holding him in the team.

That Mitchell Johnoson bloke is damn good. Is he the fastest Left Handed bowler around? That speed and angle...argh!

I still have vivid memories of that 4-11 :(. That was some of the best left hand fast bowling i've seen in ODI's.
If i remember correctly, that match too was affected by rain?

Bahaduri aur bevakufi ke beech bahut kam fark hai [There is a very thin line separating bravery from foolhardiness]

Mahendra Singh Dhoni on being told that Adam Gilchrist had said he was willing to lead his team out to resume the second innings and that it was Dhoni's decision not to take the field after the rain interval
Gotta love Dhoni !

Yes, it was during DLF cup :)

You mean like sort of depression of getting knocked out in the groups stages of the original World Cup by a fellow subcontient team which of whom doesn't go by the name of "Pakistan" or "Sri Lanka" and then being one of the million perpertraitors to burn posters & photos of your own players?

See that's a perfect example. It's just the constant remonstration of having to rub something like that into an opposition fans face. It's not really what you'd call confidence, but a form of overcompensation that stems from a fear of an event (in this case losing the series).

See if Australia were to lose this series it would make the supposed tough words of Ponting and Symonds look all the more silly. It's almost like screaming confidence at one point, but if it isn't backed up by actual events, it looks all the more foolhardy and stupid. Really this is quite a well psychologically documented fact.

A truly confident person wouldn't have to bring the fact up over and over again that said team was better or was definitely going to win* (especially to the point of couching a reaction from an opponent,) but a deeply insecure opponent has to resort to such psychological things in order to make him/herself feel better about defeating another person/group/team.

I will laugh and Tendulkar and Ganguly, maybe Dravid, at the end of this series if they don't do anything, watching a bunch of youngsters beat the best sides in the world and These so called 'World-Class-Players' not doing anything, i will seriously laugh at them...

Only Tendulkar has played so far, and he has had only one failure. Dont jump into conclusions at this point of time.

Hopefully not !
Well, the young guns are coming along really well.
Kaif and Patel aiming to come back into Team India now !

Which 'Patel'? Munaf or Parthiv?

^ I'm pretty sure he's talking about Munaf. Kinda useless to talk about Parthiv. Munaf is a great bowler. I enjoy watching him bowl but he seems to always get injured. Kaif had that string of 0's but he can be very capable as well.

I'm so sick of these overemotional "fans" that jump on the big 3 everytime they fail. Give them a break. Dravid just quit the captaincy because his batting was suffering so expect him to bounce back. Then there's Tendulkar. There's a very good chance that Tendulkar will still be in the 2011 World Cup. He's very close to scoring 50 centuries in ODIs before retiring, and he would've been much closer if it weren't for those string of 90's in England. Tendulkar has shown that he has it still in him by that series. He was determined and aggressive. And finally...Ganguly. Ganguly has been the most consistent player of India for probably a year now. I just dont understand why Gambhir was asked to open with Tendulkar when Ganguly and Tendulkar did such an excellent job opening in England.

Also, Zaheer's bowling has turned for the worse since the end of the test series in England. He barely got any wickets in the ODIs and even in the first game against Aussie, he was struggling. His later overs, he wasn't even running with full power up to the popping crease, was he injured?

Frankly, if we are visiting a country, I like the idea of having Munaf on the 15 man team just to keep the competition high in the fast/medium bowlers. There isn't much to pick from between Zaheer, Sree, Munaf, RP Singh, and Irfan so the competition would be high to not be benched.

Ganguly was having this hamstring injury for which he had to go off the field. Even if he was fit again, he would not have been allowed to come into bat as early as the opening position. And seeing that Ganguly has been rested for the next ODI, the most likely thing to have happened is that he was not fit to take up batting that early on that day.

Regarding Munaf, he doesnt deserve a place until he changes the approach that he has towards the game. One of the laziest sportsman that I have ever seen. And now he talks as if he is great and others (those who questioned him) are criminals. He has been very poor with his fitness, and one just has to see his fielding to tell how committed this guy is. Unless he makes a very drastic improvement to his fitness and unless he decides to go full throttle, I dont see him coming back into the team. We have a good battery of fast bowlers now with Zaheer, Irfan, Sreesanth, RP Singh. We need one more right handed fast bowler (not Munaf!) just to give a balance to this left-right combination, and we are done.

It's called taking the **** outta' someone for fun & pleasure.
It's adding salt to the wound.
We've been doing it for years.
You could question your integrity & intelligence for continously reacting aswell when the wise person would just ignore it because now you'll look stupid if not stupider if you get blown outta' the water just like English fans who scoffed at the idea of losing 5-0 in an Ashes' series.
McGrath predicted 5-0 in the Ashes series earlier this year after we had lost the Ashes in 2005 and people acted the same way towards him as you are to me now. What happened?

How that's any different to what Ponting or Symonds are doing?
They're stating simple facts and making you Indians think twice about your cricket.
The idea of reacting to make you look like you're trying to get on the front foot can easily make you stumble.

Allot of people seem to forgot Mitchell Johnson's 4-11 last year in a washed out match where Australia destroyed India in similar conditions & to note the fact Brett Lee was bowling 150kph again. India looked very timid Saturday Night aswell.
