Australia in India

We're not making a big deal out of Sreesanth, I'm just saying that look at what smart-arses have done against Australia. Graeme Smith? Kevin Pietersen?

Average 50?

That's a positive twice we have defended big totals. Now the final acid test is those Kiwis who took this exact same bowling attack apart.

Johnson really does love playing against India, I hope he carries this form onto other Nations, Hopes is going alright and Hogg is having a field day. I wonder if we will have any changes in the bowling next game.

It is nice to see Hopes get a go. Many people were saying a few years back that he should be in the team. He is doing quite well, though I haven't seen much of him before hand.

Yeah Hogg is playing some good cricket. He got 3 wickets last night. Do you think he will get a go in the Test side? I would like to see him get a chance in there.

I can't see the selectors going that way unless MacGill gets injured. To me he seems more of a ODI bowler than a test one.

I think the Indian batsmen are struggling due to the extra pace and that the bowlers are struggling due to the lack of pace. Kiwi batsmen are better geared to play fast bowling given their pitches and their bowlers. Batting on this pitch is not hard, but when you have swing at pace, then it becomes dangerous.

But I remember on some tours they don't want to take MacGill as the second spinner because of his bad temper. I think Hogg could do it.

Series in England. 3-1 down. Out of the series. Two matches later. 3-3. Back in.

Simply put, lose the next match, India and you have no chance of saving the series.

Seriously, I dont see them coming back. 2-0 down is very hard to come back from even though theres 4 to go. I just think our batting order has clicked pretty well in being able to smash about 300 each innings. Bowlers working, Hogg doing well in India and it all looks good to me.

Only 2 of the Indian batsmen stood up yesterday and we still got within about 50 runs of the total. A player like Dravid won't fail everyday, and it looks like Yuvraj is in fine touch. If we can have a couple more batsmen getting into the runs, we may be more successful.

Yeah, "if" who is in good form for India or is looking like he can actually make a score except for Yuvraj, Dhoni or maybe Tendulkar?

We have the test against the Kiwis in December.

If if's and buts were candy and nuts, what a merry christmas we would have. :p

I agree, if they can get their heads together, India could well win two games off the toss and string together enough momentum for a series win. One cannot say that getting the likes of Tendulkar and Dravid out cheaply is simply a sign of class bowling, as even lesser batsmen from weaker countries can score 50s against Australia. When those players find time at the crease they will even the score.

Which leads me to that ongoing concern for Aussie fans, how do Australia deal with a team that can actually take the attack up to them? We saw Yuvraj very nearly succeed in an attempt to score all the runs himself. On what was otherwise a slowing pitch not favouring the bat, Clark and Johnson went for more and more runs as the game wore on. They do not seem as useful when the batsmen aren't willing to compromise. Although Clark can bowl economically when conditions demand it, Johnson seems incapable of putting down a tidy game. If it's wickets we demand, Tait ought to be a surety when fit. Bracken to come back in, asap.

Yeah and what if Hayden converts a 60 or 70 into a 140 or 150?
Or Ponting makes a century?
Or Adam Gilchrist makes a century?

And what if 290 suddendly turns into 370?

No one is giving our bowlers enough credit, the reason all India's batsmen (bar a few) have been failing is because our bowlers are in top form. It's all well and good to say that you will win if more than 2 batsmen hit their straps, but in each of Australia's innings we have had no more than 2 or 3 batsmen go on to make a big score.
