I would say this World Cup is going to be close. I think Australia, NZ, SA, India and Pakistan have all shown that they are strong ODI sides at the moment.

Favorites have to be the defenders Australia. Sorry, but SA havn't done enough yet.

Don't forget England...their pace attack is streaks ahead of anyone elses.

ODI cricket is different, and no matter what bowling line up you have, you can only fancy your chances on the batting, and to some extent fielding.

I disagree. England arn't really a chance. Mabee at the top 6. Their pace attack is possibly one of the best at the moment. I do agree with you there.

You can't write out the English, they have match winners who when they come good are a real threat. Their bowling is great and if the batters bat well they will be a shot.

i have like 45 min highlights of the 5th odi if anyone wants them.

I'd be dissapointed if we England didn't make the last four, but beyond that looks tricky.

If it all goes to form, Australia, South Africa and India should breeze through to the Semi's, but after that the other 5 or so are scrapping, in my opinion.

There's no reason why england can't do well. A sticking point is the captain though - he's never really coped with one day cricket - he is only good at positive batting in spurts, which is fine for test matches, but it gets you out early playing stupid shots a lot in ODIs when you fail to tone things down after a couple of good shots (and test matches, his ashes hundred was brought undone by a brain freeze after dominating the good bowling). Strauss and Tresc can be really positive and hard to remove. KP is as good as say a Gibbs, Symonds, Sehwag type player. Flintoff can obviously play. It's just a matter of consistency - much like in the tests, their lineup can't seem to click day in day out, which is what you need to happen to win a world cup.

The south africans are going to be tough if fully fit - as are the pakistanis, my personal favourite for the win. As much as I want and expect the aussies to win 3 in a row, I love those pakistanis, afridi is incredible.

Sorry to say but I am not really impressed with England. The other six teams, excluding West Indies, have a decent chance. I myself, hope that Pakistan will be with full strength there, and no injuries will come into play. Australia will have a chance, if they have a decent bowling attack. And that means with Warne.

Yeah, I mean they did so badly in the last world cup without him, didn't they.

I think Warne will play ODI, just before the WC. They need a decent bowling line-up to defend their scores.

Coming back to this series, i hope they select either Kasper or Bracken to bowl along with Lee.
