It's match day.

Lets see who gets injured today.

Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar get maiden India call-up

I like the latter but seriously why does he get a call up out of the blue? He’s a medium pacer who plays in a pace friendly ground for the most part. Has a poor domestic record in List A cricket, was thoroughly average in the last List A tournament and did not even play vs NZ A. What am I even missing?

And why is Patidar now in the ODI squad too? His List A record is nothing special either, he’s a top order bat primarily when we’ve already got a surfeit of such players in the squad (everyone in there is arguably being seen as one) and he did not cross fifty once in the last VHT either. He wasn’t bad vs NZ A but a couple of decent games are now fine for him to be selected because he had a very good FC season and a good half IPL?

It is unbelievable that we’re not looking at middle order options seriously at all, what does someone like Rinku need to do for getting a proper opportunity beyond crushing domestic tournaments every season?

Chahar’s selection here probably means Shami will be Bumrah’s replacement if he isn’t rushed back in time for the WC too.

Still feel that Suryakumar Yadav is so much underrated.

No matter what the situation, he comes and just starts playing his shots from the go. Playing with 150+ strike rate, especially during the middle overs (7-15 overs) is so so rare in a T20. It not just boost the overall run rate for the team, but it eases the pressure from the non-striker as well.

This man deserves massive, massive, massive appreciation.

He’s been rightfully called our best bat in T20I cricket for quite some time now.
