Australia tour of India 2023 - 4 Tests , 3 ODIs

It is a catch-22 situation for India.

With the series poised at 2-1, do you head for a draw or go all out ? The disadvantage of going all out is that you risk losing the game and drawing the series 2-2. This, in turn could impact the chances of playing in the WTC Final. Then again, one wouldn't have expected SRL to come out all guns blazing vs NZ. So, if India draws the game, there's still the chance they may not play Australia at the Oval.

Just heard that Cummins' mom passed away. Good that he was able to spend some time with her. May her soul rest in peace!

Aussies will be wearing black armbands here.

In light of this, don't expect Cummins to head back for the ODI series. Have to wait and see who takes on the mantle then.

Australia should capitalize in scoring 450+ will be a added advantage.

No there isn't. Unless the final is moved out of the Oval. A draw ensures qualification for both Ind and Aus.

From what I read, a draw or a 2-2 result gives SL a chance to go past India if they win 2-0 in NZ.

Coming to the match, Usman and Green are completely taking the game away from India now. Hope the wicket remains true like this when India bats or else we are looking at another collapse.

161 overs batting to reach 459. That's not very Bazball.
Last check, there was no rule for every team to play slambang in Tests and England were the team operating it and not others nor was it a parameter to gauge an innings.

Let Test cricket be normal for once. Fans have had enough salmbang cricket and even 3 day pitches in this format lately.

This 70 run ninth wicket partnership would hurt us. It might prove to be the difference between potential result and a draw. Australia on the other hand are clearly backing themselves for an innings win and hence no signs of declaration yet.
