Australia tour of West Indies

Best wishes to Lara's father and Clarkey's father, hope that end up alright.

Katich will be the obvious inclusion into the side, he thoroughly deserves it. Cant wait to see him in action for Australia again.

now that clarke is out, gilly is not there anymore and west indies is improving very well... i think aussies have more chances of losing most matches of the series...

Dare I like your 15, I love the mix of youth and the prospect of the future. I agree on the Ramdin issue, but he surely need to be reminded that he is not alone. Some how I would bring Hinds in place of Morton, neither of them would be for batting, but both can field and with Hinds I would have some sort of bowling. Jaggs deserve to be on de 15 and 11 for that matter, I always advocate that new guys should be played at home first before taking them on tour and expect then to perform.
Brathwaite and Barath, definitely the future, and the sooner we get them in the better, lets take a leaf from the Asians and debut test players at 17 and 18.
Remember Edwards, he played only one match for Barbados and was spotted in the nets by then WI captain Brian Lara and today we have, possibly the best fast bowler in the WI, with hostile pace in the 90 mph. So the younger we can get the guys in the better for West Indies Cricket.

Yea I was debating over Hinds and Morton and in the end I picked Morton just to solidify the middle order if that can even be said about him. In the end I think that maybe both of them might make it to the final 15 because if I remember correctly in the last series Sammy wasn't included for the Test team only ODIs which is a mistake in my mind.

Another thing I was disappointed that Nikita Miller wasn't selected to the practice squad, he finished as the leading wicket taker in first class competition. But people are saying that he doesn't have what it takes to take wickets at the International level.

I too was disappointed, even Nash I thought should have at least been picked for the practice match. As for Miller not having what it takes, a number of guys, the same can be said about them. we have learnt very little from the Fidel Edwards experience, Miller have been bowling out his fellow WI teammates he can only get better if he gets exposure. This is why I feel so strongly about guys like him getting some kind of overseas experience, be it in County, India, NZ, SA somewhere, some how. Because the truth, we must admit is that our own domestic cricket is very limited.

Aussies will take the Test Series. Not sure about the ODI's. As someone put it,they have lost a few palyers, the ODIs could be harsh on them. But again, the Aussies are known to spring quite a few surprises.

well it looks like Samuels might not take part in this series or any in the next 2 years because he has been found guilty of receiving money from a India bookie.

looks like a spot is open for someone to stake their claim for it.

hmm samuels is a big loss for Windies now, especiallly for the ODIs and T20... they have to look for a good replacement if he is really out...

Hey Dare, a little correction:
Samuels, a 27-year-old right-hander who has played in 29 Tests and 107 ODIs for the West Indies, was found guilty of violating Clause 4-9 of the ICC code of conduct, which reads:
"Received any money, benefit or other reward (whether financial or otherwise) which could bring him or the game of cricket into disrepute."

They had no evidence that got money, what they claimed is that he remained behind after the tour was over and that the guy paid some hotel expenses for him (CMC News - Monday).
Also a second charge was dropped, see the link if you are interested for full details. http://caribbeancricket.com/news/2008/05/12/2727.

Again and thats my opinion, I see this as, again the BCCI and India imposing their might on a lesser and the ICC again like puppets of the BCCI.
Man a glad they sent Speed on leave, to often he was allowing the BCCI to do as they please with and within cricket.

Apparently Clarke is back in the squad, so Hodge and Katich miss out for now. Katich would be slightly frustrated I guess, though it's not the sort of time you want to be famous for getting back in the side anyway.

did anyone see a good performace by brad hodge? he looks really inconsistent to me... i would rather pick james hopes who can bat consistently and bowl as well...

Hodge was never in line to make the 11. Katich was ahead and it seemed they might have even put Noffke in.

Hodge shouldn't even be considered. He's too crap to play and too old to be considered 'potential'. A waste of a spot to be honest. Instead we should bump Dave Hussey up to his spot and maybe pick a rookie to fill the vacant position.

yeah thats so true... simon katich, david hussey, james hopes and brad haddin should be considered and i think they should get in to the aussie squad permanently...

The ICC is not an autocracy, the CEO does not retain that much power. In fact as we have seen, when Speed elected to make a stand on an issue, he was ousted. The board which has pandered to the point of corruption remains in charge of the ICC.
