Recap Semi-Final 1

England vs India

England won the toss and scored 260 runs with the good half century from captain Vaughn who scored 65 runs. Solanki and Jones contributed to with 45 and 46 respectively. India struggled right from the start while chasing and was reduced to 100/5 with Ganguly remained the only hope. Ganguly played a brillian knock of 57 runs but got no support from other end and India lost by 64 runs in the end.

Recap Semi-Final 2

Australia vs New Zealand

Ponting won the toss and asked New Zealand to bat first on a pitch which had some initial seam. Australia quickly took control as New Zealand top order collasped and reduced to 22/4. It was only due to some good lower middle order batting that New Zealand reached 167. While chasing a low target of only 168 runs, Australia had a poor start but thanks to a good half century from Ponting, Australia reached the target easilly and confimed their place in final with England.

Ricky Ponting talked to press reporters after returning home from England for a 15 day break

"The final is going to be a tough match and we have a long tour ahead of us in India so it will be good to get some feel of Indian grounds. All our boys are hungary for success and they want to repeat the final win of Natwest Challenge. we have not lost a final in past few occassions so we are very optimistic of a success against England."

I wish England manages to beat the mighty Aussies!

Good Going but Australia will win becaus they are always best in finals.

Australia management had a meeting today to decide about team for the final keeping in mind the upcoming Indian tour. Many changes have been done in the side. Australian Coach John Buchanan told us about some of the changes.

Following players are dropped for the final:

Matthew Hayden - Hayden was not scoring well in last few matches and was struggling so we decided to give him a break so that he can regain his touch.

Clarke - He is suffering from a Hamstring pull and will miss the final due to injury.

Symonds - There was a place for only one all rounder in team and despite of Symonds good form, the selectors decided to go with other all rounder options.

Following players have been announced as replacement:

Phil Jacques - A left Handed opener from New South Wales who will open with Gillchrist.

N. Bracken - Another New South Wales Left arm swing bowler who definitely deserves a chance in team.

D Thornely - A right handed middle order batsmen
