Australia to Tour the West Indies

Australia and the West Indies have confirmed that there would be a Test Series and a 20/20 series in the West Indies, this month.

Fixtures:

20/20 at Jamica
20/20 at Trinidad

Test Series

Test Match at Antigua
Test Match at Jamica
Test Match at Trinidad

We caught up with the Australian captain Ricky Ponting. We had an insight look at his views and opinons on about the tour. (LH stands for Left Hander)

LH: Are you happy that you will be touring the West Indies?
RP: Well, we have a busy schedule and this is where the World Cup is going to be held so it would be good pracitce on how to used the conditions etc.
LH: Any news on the squads?
RP: Nah mate, I'm not the selector. You should have a chat to Merv Hughes about that one.
LH: Do you think it will be a tough series?
RP: Yes, I do. The West Indies can be very unpredictable and they showed us what they can do in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2004. It should be one of the toughest series since the Ashes, I would think.
LH: Good luck in the series and I hope you can get some runs on the board.
RP: Thanks mate.

Ricky Ponting looking confident about beating the Windes on their home turf.

Update in a minute!

A 13 man squad has been picked by the Australian selectors. The players picked in the squad follows:

Ricky Ponting (captain)
Adam Gilchrist (vice captain & wicket-keeper)
Shane Watson
Stuart Clark
Matthew Hayden
Simon Katich
Phil Jaques

We caught up with Mervyn Hughes, Australian selector and we had a word about his selections for the 20/20 squad.

LH: How do you feel about the squad picked for the 20/20?
MH: I feel we have picked the strongest 13 to beat the West Indies.
LH: Have you spoken to Brett about his marriage?
MH: Yes, I have mate. He is very happy to be married and will be excited when he joins the squad after the first 20/20. Congratsulations Brett.
LH: Do you believe you can win the series?
MH: Yes. I believe we are firm favourites for the series.
LH: Good luck for the series.
MH: Thanks Left Hander!
