The Australian attack was demolished today when Sri Lanka piled on 538 thanks to a marvellous double century by Vandort. The innings invovled 20 fours and 4 sixes. He kept out an awesome bowling attack to show his worth in the team. The Australian bowlers just werent good enough today, not bowling the good enough delieveries to the Sri Lankans and Vandort took advantage of that. Sri Lanka have a decent lead of 49 runs.
Here is the innings report;

SRI LANKAN 1st INNINGS:

Jayasuria and Attapatu come to the crease. The opening bowlers for Australia are S. Clark and B. Lee. Let?s get play underway.

The opening Sri Lankan pair seems reasonably comfortable until Clark bowls a great bouncer that Jayasuria tries to defend but loops up and an easy catch to Ponting in bat pad. Poor Jayasuria only gets 7 runs.

Sangakarra comes in next to join Attapatu. They have a great 50 runs ran partnership and were really taking control when Clark bowls a fast outswinging yorker and bowls him. Attapatu goes out for 43.

Vandort comes in next to join Sangakarra. Sangakarra doesn?t last more than an over more and falls victim to in under edge of Lees bowling and gets caught behind. A great ball by Lee gets a very crucial wicket.

Jayawardene comes in next to join Vandort. They have another great 50 run partnership and then Jayawardene bowled by a dead straight roaring fast ball by Lee. That?s lee?s 2nd wicket. Jayawardene gets 34 runs.

Next De Silva comes in and he and Vandort have a 250 run partnership until De Silva goes out to a great leg spinner by MacGill. It spins away from De Silva and gets caught in slip by Hayden. Good work MacGill you ended a major partnership. De Silva got 135 runs.

Jayawardene comes in to bat with Vandort. Sadly Vandort didn?t last long departing for 265 runs. He got bowled by a pretty crappy ball by Johnson. He went for the six and completely missed it. He really wasted a good start.

Maharoof comes in next to bat. Together they get 50 until Jayawardene goes out. Caught by Clark at long on off Clarke?s bowling. He went for the six like Vandort and got caught easily. It was a lollipop. A gift wicket to Clarke. The batsman crossed.

The very next over Lee gets Fernando goes it for a duck. He was clean bowled by a Lee fast yorker.

Murali comes in to join Maharoof. Together have an annoying 30+ run partnership until Lee strikes and gets Murali who was hogging the strike for some reason. Murali got 27 runs.

Malinga came in next and didn?t bat well at all getting only 3 runs. He was caught M. Hussey bowled MacGill. Malinga got 3 runs leaving Maharoof getting 30*.

Suren we decided that if there is over 1800 runs or around that mark its a draw. So far theres been about 1000 runs.
