Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

Vijay
Dhawan
Kohli
Yuvi
Dhoni
Raina
Tiwari
Jadeja
Ashwin
P Kumar
Nehra

Dhoni is getting more annoying day by day. Now he has audacity to say he is not sure if Yuvi will play and does not hold back in saying that Tiwari will make debut.

Whats wrong in that? Tiwary has been putting up consistent performances in the IPL and CLT20. Yuvi on the other hand has had a completely shambolic year with his form. You basically want Dhoni to be sure of Yuvraj playing in the team purely based on his ODI/T20 reputation.

My team would be

M Vijay
S Dhawan
S Raina
MS Dhoni
V Kohli
Y Singh
S Tiwary
R Jadeja
R Ashwin
P Kumar
A Nehra

Team's best batsman should be No. 4. Dhoni is our best batsman in ODI's. Also that position for Dhoni could bring him in early enough so that he can get settled enough and then slog into the final overs (if he is still there)

^^i think u guys are overestimating Jadeja's bowling talent.
I seriously doubt he could be taken into team as 4th bowler.

My team for 1st 2 matches:
S Dhawan
M Vijay
V Kohli
Y Singh
S Raina
M S Dhoni
S Tiwary
R Ashwin
P Kumar
Vinay Kumar
A Nehra

To watch out for M Patel and R Jadeja's form i'll swap them for V Kumar and S Dhawan. To be honest S Dhawan is a wasted selection, we are already overwhelmed with opening batsmen.

Not bad to have options for the opening slots. We have had this problem before where we have had to open with non-specialist openers and have paid the price for it. Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir and Vijay are our options right now. Add one more option (Dhawan) and we could have a pool of players there for that opening slot. Sachin is not going to stay around for too long (WC could be his likely final adieu to ODI's).

^^ its good to have more options, but this close to World Cup, I think our ODI opening slots are more than covered for any eventuality (even our 2nd choice keeper D Karthik has been opening off late). Would have been better if Abhishek Nayyar was in squad, coz that would have meant stiff competition for that no. 7 spot with others Jadeja/Tiwary/Yusuf/Irfan

Only 35 overs per team is the maximum possible scenario because of the rain last night and match will start around 11 am if there is no more rain in the morning.

My line up:

Suresh Raina
Shikar Dhawan/Murali Vijay
Virat Kohli
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Saurabh Tiwary/Rohit Sharma
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravichandran Ashwin
Praveen Kumar
Ashish Nehera/Munaf Patel
R Vinay Kumar

Raina opening, in place of Sehwag. Murali Vijay definitely will not take any aggressive start risk and Shikar Dhawan does the same as its his debut. We need an aggressive opener. So, either try with Raina or go with Yuvraj Singh. But even Yuvi will not take risks in the opening overs cause he is now completely under pressure.

Whats the weather like? Will we get a game?

Weather is damp all over south India, but lets hope this won't be a washout..

What was the use of picking Dhawan and/or Vijay if you are going to go with a makeshift opener in Raina? It will be utterly foolish. Open with Dhawan and Vijay and have Raina at one down.

Jadeja is crap and I do not mind India playing with 10 men if there were only 11 fit players to select from and he was one of them.

The team I posted is one which will take field most likely. The swap will happen in Tiwari/Sharma and Kumar/Patel

And this game is a washout. Why play day games also in India? The side batting first is under so much disadvantage, specially in winters.

It beats me as to why there was a day-game in Kochi, that too on a ground where you have the luxury of floodlights. I am dead sure that the weather conditions would have improved by now. The sides could have played out a truncated game or even a T20 just to appease the crowds.
