Australia's tour of India 2019

Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb (w)
Maxwell (c)
Stoinis
Turner
Cummins
Starc
Coulter-Nile/Behrendoff/Richardson
Zampa

Carey
Mitch Marsh in the reserves along with the other two quicks.

Somewhere I don't see Smith and Warner coming back till the WC gets over

I feel these would be the players playing in the WC for Australia

Aaron Finch :c:
Alex Carey (vc) :wk:
Usman Khawaja :bat:
Shaun Marsh :bat:
Peter Handscomb :wkb:
Glenn Maxwell :ar:
Marcus Stoinis :ar:
Mitchell Marsh :ar:
Billy Stanlake :bwl:
Nathan Coulter-Nile :bwl:
Pat Cummins :bwl:
Josh Hazelwood :bwl:
Jhye Richardson :bwl:
Adam Zampa :bwl:
Nathan Lyon :bwl:

  • I think Billy Stanlake would be replaced by Mitchell Starc unless Australia don't rest him for the Ashes as he (Starc) is an injury-prone bowler.
  • Seeing the performance of Ashton Turner in recent series I think Mitchell Marsh's place is at risk.
The batting line-up looks decent enough well capable of scoring big and the bowling line-up is young barring Cummins and Hazelwood but it has a lot of potential to trouble any good batting line-up. In all this looks ideal strength of the team if Warner and Smith are left out. I think in limited overs format Smith doesn't bring much into play except his experience as we have seen in lot of series Smith played before the ban but Warner looks to be a gun player but actually I don't think he would be brought before much of match practice. And because Warner isn't included in the squad that is going to tour UAE it is a sign the somewhere Warner also wouldn't be playing in the WC

I Really don't rate Nathon lyon in ODI tbh

He's a class act no matter what the format. The problem lies with the limited overs format and how heavily lopsided it is towards the batter. Balls which never go old, grounds that have shrunk to the size of backyards, outfields you could mistake for mexican grass and field restrictions to boot. It has basically put the finger spinner out of a job. I can't think of any current successful finger spinner who doesn't have a second skill.

Terrific fightback from Australia. The moment we put up 358 (even though we were about 20 runs short of where we should have been), I was certain that we have bagged the series. Credit where due. Well played.

Just one of those days when our best bowlers had an off day.

Really wanted to ask the regulars here on a subject-

What does the support staff do? We have got two calls on due incorrect. Apparently, Mohali is a place where there is due 24x7 365? May be a coach who isn't into gin and tonics a night before the game would help? Our strength is our top 3 which was established by the previous leadership. The keeper is one of our strengths and he is the ex captain but still not batting in a position best suited to him as already proved in the 2018 IPL. No one has a clue about the reliability of 4,6 and 7. Jadeja, Bumrah, Bhuvi are all products of the previous generation's staff. Basically, apart from Kuldeep Yadav not much to choose from and personally, I don't think anyone could have overlooked him after his IPL shenanigans.

It's hard to really understand the productivity of Shastri and co apart from the shameless bombastic drunk interviews.

A rare situation when I completely agree with you :thumbs

On the match now, it would be nice to see India lose this match as that would hurt them a lot and that complacency would come down a bit. This can also prove to be a motivating factor for them as they would want to improve their flaws figured out in this series and prove that why they are known as a top class team in this world. And if that doesn't happen I don't think we actually have players who play to win but to earn. We have players who have capabilities to win matches but they haven't lived to the potential and the level of Cricket which they can play

Khawaja is all class! Great man!

Crucial knock for Australia, lock for World Cup?

I am actually very happy with the way India fought back with the bowling. From 171/1 they reduced Australia to 229/7. But here again we struggled to keep the tail quite, to many runs from them. This could prove the difference. The other thing is the pitch over here also deteriorates quite a bit till the end of the match so partnerships are important over here

I was dissapointed with the way Dhawan got out. You don't expect your experienced players to throw their bat away like that. His form is worrisome these days.[DOUBLEPOST=1552482354][/DOUBLEPOST]Lol..... What's happening today with Australia ? Suddenly they have decided to gift some many extras like that. Wides and over-throws like those. Was there anything else which was remaining to give away ? :D:lol
