Batting and Bowling Nets now available in the Cricket Academy

@MattW One small hickup I found during batting was that after Patch 3 on DBC 14 square drive was added for full deliveries through deep point and deep cover. It seems to be missing from DBC 17 nets
I tried several times but batsman just goes for square cut on front foot instead of playing the drive through deep point and deep cover for full length

Sorry that I am nitpicking but my reason is that there may still be time in development before the final release

Shot animations will be added as we receive updates..

Holy the spin bowling is a huge improvement from DBC14 by the looks. Could be quite the challenge facing it now as the ball actually spins. And the animations just look so real and smooth. Cant wait!!!

Also BRAB, did you bowl any effort balls in that video?

Just uploaded to youtube then.

Will
be live at that link.

Only a short vid but it should get the point across :)

Key factor: Spin is awesome. Very fun.
Thanks for that video BRAB. Spin looks amazing! Great job BA

Got the chance to play quite a bit tonight - overall I'm impressed and echo the positive impressions others have had. The changes to the controls make sense and work well, the visuals/animations are more polished and overall I'm very optimistic going forward from this first taster of gameplay.

A few things to note;

When trying to play fine shots to the leg side, it often results in the late cut shot being triggered which obviously hits the opposite way and ends up being an unsuitable shot for the line of the ball. This is despite the right analog stick being pressed towards 7-8 o'clock. What I intended is more of a leg glance guided behind square/towards fine leg. Flicking the stick more towards 9 o'clock produces an animation for the type of shot I'd want, but hits too square (although it's not easy to tell the shot direction exactly in the nets without a replay).
This happened sometimes in DBC14 as well but it's been a while since I played it regularly, so perhaps being a bit out of practice is making it more evident, but I am certain I'm not pressing the right stick towards the off side when this cut shot is triggered, I may try to record some gameplay tomorrow with an overlay displaying controller inputs to show what I mean.

Another thing is that I tried to see how ball on player collisions were - setting pace bowling and having the batsman stand still and get hit by the ball. The ball still seems to stop quite dead and lose nearly all momentum as it did in DBC14, resulting in the lack of leg byes and bat-pad catches. Again, without replays and not seeing where the ball would go in the outfield due to being in the nets, this observation may not be totally accurate.

Also, there's still no pain/reaction animations when hit by the ball, and I couldn't get the ball to bounce up to head height with pace bowling and the shortest length set with the marker. Perhaps away from the nets, there will be different pitch conditions which may produce more exaggerated or uneven bounce than indoor nets.

The nets run great for me (batting and bowling) at highest settings downsampled from 2880x1620 to 1920x1080, I used to do this with DBC14 so it's nice that it still seems to perform smoothly. That said, I appreciate that a proper match with more player models, the stadium, crowd etc will be more demanding so it's no guarantee I can play the full game in this resolution.
sometimes that late cut shot problem could also be because of use of a particular type of controller
every controller has different smoothness in its analog sticks
xbox are the best
or even logitech
which one are u using?
if analog sticks are not smooth enough it may result in wrong shots
happened with me when i was using a cheap controller
then bought logitech f310
one of the best controllers online

Well! Well! Spin bowling feels much better than pace bowling now! Kudos BA![DOUBLEPOST=1471259244][/DOUBLEPOST]
using the same one! Still facing the same problem as @Madman
well then there is definitely some issues with the game
hopefully it will be corrected by BA

Oh man!! I am gonna keep on playing spin..Machine bowling the 5th stump line offbreak and I play a cover drive..What happens!!! Misses the bat by a whisker and hits offstump..

BTW there's one very full ball bug which goes over the batsman without even pitching..Kindly remove it..

Pic if required:

The circle color over the batsman head..

Would also like machine giving more and better variations like flight , top spin etc..

That's way too much of a difference between slower and fast deliveries. It's a video game and it's extremely difficult to judge the pace and react accordingly so the difference in pace for slower and faster ones should be no more than 15-20 kph.
i think in ashes cricket 2009 there was a regular change in the bowling speeds of bowlers as it happens in real cricket like 144 kph then 145 or 144.6 kph
pace cant be constant every ball
may be this is the reason it is difficult to suddenly play a slower ball in the game after u have played most of the balls at the exact same speed
speed must vary ball by ball from 2-4 kph even when the bowler is bowling his normal stock deliveries

An option to edge the ball deliberately to play the ball down to the 3rd man (not the late cut thing) would be great. You shouldn't be able to play a late cut when ball is close to the stumps. A new animation for that would be great. Shots should be different for different line and length deliveries.
Batsmen should be able to adapt to the line and length and play a different shot in the same direction. May be lack of animations are causing this thing.
And as @Madman said when i try to the glance or flick the ball finer ( RAS at 7/8 o clock), batsman plays late cut. Again lack of animations probably.
Pace Balls going for four after hitting the thigh pads, short pitch deliveries going to the boundary beating the batsman and the keeper over their head, these are the things which will make this game more realistic. I hope these suggestions will be implemented in the game.
yes u r right
just like kane williamson and alastair cook do it by nudging the ball down to third man deliberately without getting caught

Is it just me who thinks that the dancing down the wicket shots animations still look unimpressive just like it was in dbc14?
