Batting and Bowling Nets now available in the Cricket Academy

You can now tweak flight and bounce as well by holding the left stick on your delivery. Another Hud opens up where you can adjust your stick to choose a ball that will bounce more or flight more.

Am I understanding that right Matt?

Do you have to rotate the left stick 3 times to bowl spin deliveries or has it changed?

I honestly can't tell how this mechanic works right now.

From what I can tell, no you don't.

I will post a few screenshots and then try an explanation as I don't want to throw out any misinformation.

Yeah the drift from spinners seems pretty extreme! Only really has to go a bat width or half a bat width to deceive the batsman, rather than the full width (or more) of the stumps!

Looking forward to a detailed description on the bowling and batting experience in DBC 17!

Saw the video posted by @AL_Amin and spinners get way too much drift. I saw a couple of deliveries which literally drifted a mile! You never see that in cricket and it almost feels like spinners are swinging the balls and not drifting them. Hopefully Big Ant can reduce the amount of drift spinners get.

Ok so played it for about 25-30 minutes now (not enough obv). And should say its amazing how much of it is familiar, yet there is so much to learn. The bowling looks impressively detailed now. It has multiple layers and I hope someone from BigAnt could post some description about the new additions maybe tomorrow. If my eyes didn't fool me, I think the release of the ball is appropriate to the arm release point and feels smooth aka real. Correct me if I'm wrong.
A couple of issues I found that I know of, the leg break/googly and offbreak/doosra seems to be inverted. They are going in the opposite directions. Other than that, bowling already looks really polished and complete.

About the batting, I really hope its not the full range? There are shots missing from the previous game...
Positive changes:
  • Batsman does not stand still like a robot after he plays the ball, he moves freely.
  • Most of the shots are beautiful and feel real.
  • The batsman's head doesn't turn like a zombie!!!
  • Feels like an 'almost' 360 control.
  • Precision shot seems like an interesting addition.
  • Advance shot under toggle makes sense...BUT

Could be better suggestions:
  • I thought once you toggle it, you get the full range of shots now. But doesn't seem so, he plays the ball in the air, no grounded and no defensive. I hope it will added later?
  • I said almost 360 control cause I feel the arc bend upper cut is one missing shot that would complete the 360 as it is played a bouncer heading straight to the batsman and he can help it up and over the keeper's head...
. And if the ball is full...
    .
  • Also would be really nice if the late cut has a more powerful animation like this for an aggressive ground/lofted cut...
    .
  • One more shot, a variation of the pull for spinners can be added if possible...both variations come one after the other here...
. Also if you notice the first pull has a certain swivel. I hope that swivel is much more pronounced if the ball is very quick. Otherwise the current animation looks good but for a fast-medium/medium pace bowler's bouncer.
  • About the lofted sweeps, are they there in this version? Atleast the animation didn't suggest so. I thought the animation would have been added this time. Something like this...
  • The same one type of leave animation is used? I hoped the leave would be sensitive to the line and length of the ball. He is again lifting the bat up to a rising ball and that is causing the usual issues. I really hope they can do something about swaying the upper body away and moving the bat away from the possible line in much more context sensitive way. I feel its a very important addition missed here.
  • Now I mentioned how the batsman not standing still is a positive but I feel he is withdrawing very quickly for all the balls. I hope the batsman holds a bit more for defensive shots.
  • Again, the head's movement seems to be looking at one spot after the shot. Although I'm happy it's not moving like a zombie, it would be much appropriate if he looks where the ball has gone. (It was there in DBC14 except his head would bend unnaturally).
  • The biggest change and a long shot one I would like to be implemented is the correct hand on which the batsman withdraws the bat...A right hander always withdraws on the left hand and left hander on the right unless when they start running, then they switch. So technically, the user would press for a run much before the batsman withdraws, so if he runs then the bat can go in the right hand (for a right handed player) otherwise it can go in the left as he won't run. Even if he presses for a run belatedly, I don't think the hand would matter cause the initial withdraw is the one that looks unnatural when everything else does.
  • Additionally, if you are able to take in new animation sets, introducing animations for strokes variations that are played a lot of wrist could add a visual variety.
  • The hair seems too glossy. It's reflecting light too much.

Doubts in batting:
The reason for Advance Down the wicket being a toggle option?
Is the precision shot a solo button or can be used as a combination?
Can we do a chip shot? Or a defensive push?

Doubts in bowling:
How do we use the flight/bounce control that pops up when you hold the delivery selection L analogue for a while?
What is the actual use of LT/RT slower of faster? Is it the same as before or the bowler runs in slower or faster?
What is the use of LB/RB? It says shorter or longer...don't we do that with the timing of the R analogue or is it completely different?
Is the use of extra full length is to bowl a yorker?

Finally a general question...will you be adding more edge smoothing options? Doesn't feel very smooth right now although its already an amazing improvement in visuals.

Overall, the FEEL is amazing and the game flow is super smooth! It is a huge improvement over the strong foundation of DBC14.

What does the 'Precision' shot modifier do?

What does the 'Precision' shot modifier do?

I'm not sure exactly but so far I feel it reduces the power and focuses on accuracy. Again, not really sure. Waiting for someone else to tell me too.

@MattW, can you explain what 'Precision' shot modifier does while batting?[DOUBLEPOST=1470999790][/DOUBLEPOST]
You can now pull short deliveries from the spinners:

If I'm not mistaken you could do that in the nets in DBC 14 as well but things were different in the actual matches/gameplay.

I wish we would have more control over feet movement in DBC14 the slight flick of LAS would make the batter stepping sideways too much.

Really hoping that all my issues will be fixed in coming days :)

Move the left stick along that section to the direction of the flight/bounce label - to increase those particular things.

What is the actual use of LT/RT slower of faster? Is it the same as before or the bowler runs in slower or faster?
Speed of delivery - was on LB/RB in DBC14. There's the addition of a spin 'effort ball' on RT as well - which we've nicknamed the fearsome tweak button...

What is the use of LB/RB? It says shorter or longer...don't we do that with the timing of the R analogue or is it completely different?
It's for fine tuning your delivery length.

Is the use of extra full length is to bowl a yorker?
Yep - or a full toss in some cases.

I thought once you toggle it, you get the full range of shots now. But doesn't seem so, he plays the ball in the air, no grounded and no defensive. I hope it will added later?
You should be able to - how's your timing?

The reason for Advance Down the wicket being a toggle option?
So you can decide against it.

@MattW, can you explain what 'Precision' shot modifier does while batting?
Basically it's kinda what was possible with some really fine balancing of the defensive trigger in DBC14 - but moved to make it something a bit more accessible. Use it to slowly nudge into gaps, pick up twos, etc.

Thanks and am assuming the chances of edging behind or playing a mistimed shot are reduced when you play a 'Precision' shot.
