Story BFN Bombers - Battrick Story

i have to go so rather someone else can do it or i or maxkarter can finish it in the morning, though i wont be on to about 2 tomoz as i have cricket

Spiller managed a wicket :D And went under 6 RPO, so not too damaging.
Easy enough win though.

FRIDAY ROUND-UP

Scorecard-BFNvsCaptians.jpg

On a very favourable pitch for batting, each bowler took wickets, two for each full time bowler and a single one for Spilller. Samuel struck early knocking over their first batsman, and was soon followed by Singh picking up two in rather short succession. They then built up a slight partnership before the spinners came to the party with Breen knocking Lawrence over and Soft taking his first wicket for the Bombers. Mckenna who was looking to build an innings had a loss of concentration and got himself run out. The rest of the wickets fell rather quickly with Spiller taking his first wicket ever, Soft and Breen taking their second, and finally Samuel taking his second and ending the innings.

With a target in their sights Gore and Mainey set off! Both set off quickly and Mainey departed, Nicholls came in and hit a swift 47 off 49 balls, staking his claim for a permanent spot high in the order. Gore was attacking as usual and despatched a six and five fours to end 68 off 59 balls.

It can be argued that if Barnard bowled The Captians XI would have been out in less than 43 overs and they would have been restricted a little more. But it has to be said that the runs leaked weren't disasterous, and that the batsmen are in excellent knick to chase 131 in less than 20 overs.

If I was looking for someone with Jonty Rhodes fielding capability this would be my man, however he would probably hold a bat back-to-front and upside-down. Bowling is just as non-existant. Fired.

SUNDAY FRIENDLY

It?s hardly going to be an easy game for my lads, in terms of batting our top order is equal, middle order we?re a rating down at mediocre, at the last ratings we?re also equal. If push really comes to shove that could be the defining point of the match. Bowling wise we are outclassed by a country mile, proficient over mediocre in seam and quality over mediocre in spin. It can be said that my squad is the better overall balanced team, and that the TT Lions are definitely a better bowling squad.

If I had to single out the main players in my squad to give me a chance at winning this it would be Samuel?s bowling, Gore?s batting and finally I?d hope for the first brilliant all-round performance from bowling all-rounder Barnard. In terms of worries from the TT Lions, it would simply have to be their entire bowling line-up.

The pitch is expected to be hard, mainly to prove some consistency in how it plays, which also should negate some movement. This also helps to make the batsmans job easier in an attempt to eliminate some of the advantage the lions have.

Expected line-up : - Nicholls, Gore, Mainey (+), Barnard, Spiller, Furlong, Sparrow, Samuel, Bird, Singh (*), Breen.

Lol shocking Youth Pull :)
Zorax would be favourite to win the friendly if hes taking it seriously at least you're get a challenge ;)

Gud Luck for Today's match! Lets see how Bombers play strong Lions :)

Welcome to Bloemfontein Oval for the match between BFN Bombers and TT Lions.

We can tell you that TT Lions won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a cracker! Hard and fast - should be a run-fest out there on this sunny day.

BFN Bombers have selected Nicholls, Gore, Mainey, Barnard, Spiller, Furlong, Sparrow, Samuel, Bird, Singh, Breen.

TT Lions have picked Cutler, Giddings, Abdeen, Rudi, Crouch, Gallagher, Whing, Finlayson, Eli, Tuckett, Folkes.

So the TT Lions win the toss and bat first, pity, I wanted to bat first.

End of Over 5: 13-0, runrate=2.60
Samuel 3-0-8-0
Cutler* 9 (23 balls)
Giddings 4 (7 balls)

It doesn't bother me though if they keep scoring at that rate..... One thing to look out for would be a sudden explosion in the run rate with a bowling change though.

Giddings lets lose and thwacks Samuel for six, is this the start of their acceleration?

6.4 6 Samuel to Giddings
And that ball's been hit into next week. Pure power from Giddings.

King of Spin, Breen gets his groove, err, spin on and dismisses Giddings to bring Abdeen in.

11.2 W Breen to Giddings
A dolly. Giddings won?t be happy with that shot.

Still not flying along at any warp-speed pace so its all still under control I'd say.

End of Over 12: 40-1, runrate=3.33
Breen 1-0-1-1
Abdeen* 1 (4 balls)
Cutler 17 (35 balls)
Last Wicket: Giddings c. Gore b. Breen 19 (FOW: 39/1)

I was going to hide that :p

12.6 4 Barnard to Cutler
Bada-boom bada-bing. One bounce and into the crowd.
12.5 4 Barnard to Cutler
Furlong has tripped and taken a nasty tumble trying to stop the ball and it's gone for four! Furlong is up now, he's alright, only his pride is injured.

Hardly the start I was looking for, only in 2nd over and we lose a wicket.

1.5 WFolkes to Nicholls Hit high into the air, Crouch fumbled but caught the ball at the 2nd attempt.

And an over later we lose in-form Mainey, it would be really tough to salvage it from here.

2.5 WRudi to Mainey Good length ball jags back a bit and he's played on. Great bowling!

After some rebuilding and a very small partnership, Barnard goes, and unfortunately in my opinion the match follows.

8.4 WRudi to Barnard Gone! Good length delivery on the off stump and angled away, Barnard smashes on the front foot, but straight to Crouch who takes a comfortable catch.

When the top batsman falls, you know you?re in trouble, just that I?m in heaps of it.

11.2 WTuckett to Gore Advanced, went for the big hit and picked up straight to wide long on for an easy catch.

And four balls later Tuckett gets his second, Spiller gone, only Furlong and Sparrow can put up any sort of resistance.

11.6 WTuckett to Spiller What a ball. Spiller is still wondering what happened there. Well I can tell him that the ball pitched on off and spun back, caught the edge and Abdeen has taken a wonderful catch.

All that I can say is that Zorax's bowling has once again lived upto its reputation, and it has so far decimated my batting line-up, and very cheaply too.
