Story BFN Bombers - Battrick Story

Didn't you find out during my game ;) 370 odd wasn't it, well you should be able to crack 400 against this guy.

FRIDAY MATCH OVERVIEW

SandtonBFN.jpg

The batting was stunning, although I do feel that a few more runs could have been scored. It's been some time since we last hit a 400....
Nicholls opened the batting superbly, and passed his maiden 50, then went on to his maiden 100 and almost onto his maiden 150 in a single match! He didn't give them much of a sniff at the rate he was scoring at either. Gore was the rock as usual and nearly hit himself a 200, I think it would have been his first or second. Once Nicholls went out some momentum was lost, as Mainey came in he didn't really get going quickly. Therefore I do see a possibility that we could have had two double hundreds had there not been a loss of a wicket.

Bowling we simply outclassed them! 6 Wickets to Samuel who just popped to quality and 3 to Singh. Samuel will need to translate some of this excellent form into matches against the bigger teams, as out bowling hopes ride on him.

Ratings haven't changed at all, their lack of bowling was exploited, their weak batting was knocked over. All to lead to Man of the Match for Gore, a title well earned young man.

We know ready ourselves for the match against Aura, it won't be as easy as this was for sure.

I hope to get some decent updates in tomorrow night.

Ouch! Very nice win there for you. Very good knock my Gore. It was pretty gorey on the bowlers :p. I wish I had batsmen like that *sigh*

Bad luck to Gore should have got the 200 and the 400 for the team. Another good performance by Samuels.

SATURDAY YOUTH PULL

So, I needed a wicket-keeper batsman, only that I don't have nets to train a young one up, and there isn't much talent on the transfer market lately. So I asked my coach to find someone from the nets for me. He found me Jonno, Jonno Noon. 12 ITs on batting, keeping and 8 each on stamina and concentration.

Jonathon Noon - 19 yo, BT Rating=3,164 [transfer listed]
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, changeable
A destructive player with proficient leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: mediocre
Batting: competent Concentration: feeble
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: worthless

He fits into my sqaud as he is, but i'm also going to chance my hand on the transfer market.

SUNDAY FRIENDLY

Aura vs BFN Bombers

Ground : Knights Castle

Aura v BFN Bombers (1028099) [Add to MultiView]

Welcome to Knights Castle for the match between Aura and BFN Bombers.

We can tell you that BFN Bombers won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

Aura have selected Murray, Crainey, Wijenayake, Naidoo, Dharmasena, Cash, Duminda, Hilton, Poke, Ilanganage, Polonowita.

BFN Bombers have picked Nicholls, Gore, Mainey, Barnard, Furlong, Spiller, Noon, Samuel, Breen, Singh, Bird.

6.2 W Ilanganage to Nicholls
What a catch by Crainey. He seemed to fly there.

End of Over 7: 40-1, runrate=5.71
Ilanganage 4-0-21-1
Mainey* 3 (3 balls)
Gore 14 (14 balls)

Runrate going at a flyer, pity Nicholls has fallen so early.

7.2 W Poke to Mainey
Short and hoisted away backward of square leg. Wow! What a catch! Dharmasena has dived full length to his left and taken it one handed! Simply brilliant!

An over later, minor collapse, really disappointing.

15.6 4 Poke to Gore
Pitched up, comes in a bit with the angle, Gore drives down the ground to the long on boundary, excellent shot!
And that's his fifty! Well played.

Fifty up in style! Keep going lad!

Cue middle order collapse..... NOW!

25.3 W Cash to Barnard
Barnard is beaten by the turn and given out lbw! Looking at the replay he seems a bit unlucky, I think that was going over middle.

Pity, he was going rather well, if not a tad slowish.

25.3 W Cash to Barnard
Barnard is beaten by the turn and given out lbw! Looking at the replay he seems a bit unlucky, I think that was going over middle.

And the rock departs an over later, quick 70 too.

28.1 W Polonowita to Furlong
A thin nick and taken behind by Duminda. There was no need for Furlong to go chasing that!

End of Over 29: 137-5, runrate=4.72
Polonowita 5-0-16-2
Spiller* 2 (4 balls)
Noon 1 (4 balls)
Last Wicket: Furlong c. Duminda b. Polonowita 7 (FOW: 135/5)

Furlong didn't last long, but scored his 7 quickly.

33.3 W Ilanganage to Noon
The ball rises off the length and it's a top edge. That's an easy catch for Duminda.

A bit much asking a debutant to save the middle order, but he did do well for the time he was in. Tail is pretty much exposed now....

39.1 W Ilanganage to Samuel
Samuel's played way too early and has served a dolly back to Ilanganage. The slower ball does the trick!

Samuel gone, the tail is no officially open!

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 43: 174-10, runrate=4.05
Polonowita 6-0-21-3
Bird* 0 (3 balls)

Defending 175 on a dry pitch, this is going to be an interesting match! My bowlers should be able to do it, especially with their form being quite high at the moment.

Some good pace bowling gets the ball rolling for us.

6.1 W Samuel to Crainey
Crainey was mystified as the ball shot at him, he didn't have enough time to react and the ball strikes the middle of his pads, great bowling!

6.3 . Samuel to Murray
BONK! Oh dear, it's hit the poor guy square in the head. No time to duck that one!

Samuel gets the breakthrough we were looking for, while also nearly breaking through Murray's helmet! Ah the joy of a having a fast bowler ;)

7.2 W Singh to Wijenayake
Wijenayake needs a feather duster, not a bat. He tickled at that one and is comprehensively beaten. Next!!!

Singh smells a fresh batsman, and duly removes him before he can get going!

End of Over 10: 42-2, runrate=4.20, reqrunrate=3.33 (174-10)
Singh 5-0-28-1
Murray* 19 (31 balls)
Naidoo 2 (3 balls)
Last Wicket: Wijenayake b. Singh 1 (FOW: 27/2)

In the context of the match, these first 10 overs have gone really well. Last over was a tad exspensive, but its all good at the moment, we started off alot quicker.

93 a/o...expected a lot more from them...
Nice win :) Ratings suggest it was very close, so the margin of defeat it rather suprising.

SUNDAY FRIENDLY SUMMARY

BFNAuraScore.jpg

It was promised by Voldy that this game would be alot closer than my last league game.... If only it was, I was hoping for more of a 30 runs needed off the last 5 overs to win situation for either of us, but it wasn't to be. Tireless opener Vic Gore once again spearheaded our batting and duly top scored, attacking as usual but he wasnt as prolific in boundary scoring. Nicholls started well but didnt last long, he scored quickly as usual too. The rest were knocked over rather quickly, while Barnard slowed things down and ticked the score over slowly. From there on it was bits and pieces that got us to 174.

Our defence of the total started well with Samuel taking two cheaply, Singh did his part but at a price though. Bird came thundering in took one at one an over, he'll soon be replacing Singh at this rate as opening bowler. Breen took his three wickets, and took to the spin friendly pitch very well. Barnard did well to take two, and went rather economically. Doesnt happen often.

In the end another good win.

Ratings the same for Voldy, same for me in all departments except the middle order where we dropped to feeble from mediocre.

Join us tomorrow for the training updates!
