SUNDAY FRIENDLY REPORT

bfnufs.jpg

Taking a look at the scorecard our top order didn't really live upto its expectations or the sort of performances its been putting in for the passed few weeks. Nicholls went cheaply and early, Mainy followed soon, and lastly top batsman Gore tumbled. Over the passed few games the middle order has been rather 'collapseable' but luckily it changed. Spiller was the back-bone, setting the stage for Barnard's maiden 50 and Furlong's quick 30. There wasn't much help from the rest. The main damagers were Otto and Stone, Hemmings did some good work, although he did fetch abit.

The defence of the total would always be a tough ask, things started well when Mason departed early, but the rest were standing their ground, at one stage we had a slight chance, but once Stiles got in and started operation launch it was all over. Samuel, Barnard and Bird each picked up wickets but became rather exspensive.

Comparing these ratings to the pre-match ones, it seems the Wulfs played a slightly weakened sqaud in their league match. Bowling wise we could sort of compare on an averaged out system, but batting we were outclassed. Good win for the Wulfs.

MONDAY TRAINING

Jonathon Bird - 17 yo, BT Rating=6,743
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, proficient batting form, superb bowling form, energetic
A defensive player with woeful leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: worthless Concentration: worthless

Bird pops to proficient, expected it soon after a slight miscalculation of expectation last week.

Ken Nicholls - 17 yo, BT Rating=9,096
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, invigorated
A cautious player with abysmal leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: proficient Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: woeful
Fielding: mediocre

Consistency pop for Nicholls here, a small help to making him a better batsman.

Eddie Samuel - 18 yo, BT Rating=16,445
RH Batsman, RF Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, lively
An attacking player with worthless leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless

Consistency pop here, something he desperately needed, it won't make a huge difference yet but as it improves this lad will become a bowling monster. Hopefully he'll be at competant by season end.

This rounds of a brilliant week of training for my squad.

You had some good pops that round.
Spiller took quite a while for his 50 then getting out after 50 didn't help.

nice week of training for you there max, nice pres keep it up

BUMPER TUESDAY UPDATE!

Heres an image of the log, of the division and league that I am in.

Log.jpg

It tells a pretty sweet story, luckily for the sake of this league (which was an all bot league last season - barring mysef) there is only one bot team left, and they are in last place. But the new teams are still struggling to get to grips with battrick so it will be a while before they become strong. So were sitting atop the table comfortably, net run rate is our only concern due to this:

Promotion.jpg

We're 6th of 60 odd teams looking to promote, our main goal is to stay above the line so that we can automatically promoto without having to play a play-off match against the demoting team. It does also mean we could end up in a potentialy stronger league, but that doesn't bother our fearless team!

Form.jpg

This is the team's overall form at the moment, with our only losses coming from friendlies recently the spirits are high, and we fear no one that enters our paths!

Averages.jpg

Why do we only have two batsmen in the average list you may ask? Well its because 9/10 times we only end up using two in a league match and in the case of a wicket loss the new batsman doesn't get much time at the crease.
Bowling wise, it's a similar story we really only need two bowlers, and they do most of the damage leaving only a few scalps for the rest of the lads to fight over.

FRIDAY LEAGUE & SUNDAY FRIENDLY PREVIEW

BFNCAcom.jpg

So on Friday we come up against C.A. la Boheme, we outclass them in every way possible, except in the team name department. It's just another match for us to try to keep our run rate up and to keep form high.

BFNChalcom.jpg

On Sunday we play against Embi's Challengers XI. Our teams have quite a history going - I think its something like 2 wins to each of us and a draw - so we'll be looking to see who's better again. It should also determine who will finish higher in the PC league out of us two. On paper according to battrick we are quite similar, we do have the slight upper hand in batting, also in bowling but only by a small margin. It promises to be a close game.

Could someone please post a few updates of these matches for me, as I am away from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday evening. Thanks!

SUNDAY FRIENDLY OVERVIEW

So, Embi's Challengers XI came over for a friendly, but with our history 'friendly' didn't mean much. We both had something to prove.

BFNChalscore.jpg

Edwards won the toss for the Challengers and put us in to bat on a green top, which would produce a low scoring thriller. Gore got stuck in straight away as usual, despite losing Nicholls early once again. We looked to be in a real spot of bother after Mainey, Johnny 'The Rock' Spiller and Barnard all went in quick succession, but experienced campaigner Furlong steadied the ship. He went about building a decent total for the circumstances wit Gore and then Noon. Once those two left it wasn't very pretty as the rest all held their bats upside down or back to front and didn't do much.

Our bowlers had a tall job ahead of them to defend this low total, the match promised to be a thriller! Their top order showed some courage and strength surviving in-form Samuel and Singh, things looked good for them but spin king Breen sorted things out nicely even if a tad expensively. Bird also chipped in getting rid of Kekeletso, and Barnard sent Bishop packing. By now it would have looked like a victory for the Challengers, but Singh and Samuel came back, and they did so with vengence removing the remaining five batsmen for 13 runs! That ended their innings just 7 runs short of our total! An almost Zorax like bowling performance at the end clinched it for us.

BFNChalcom.jpg

Ratings show that it was going to be a tight match with us just having a slight upper hand.

I'm sure I speak for myself and Embi in saying that a result for either of us is alot better than the tie we managed last time we met. Our next meeting will be in the Planet Cricket League which starts next Sunday, we are both eager to see how that goes.

A side note from the last few friendly games, the fun is over for now in the sense that these last games didn't mean much, but in the PC league we will be playing for promotion for Div 2 to Div 1.

Join us tomorrow for the training report!
